Discussing an exam with siblings

When I was 15 my brother and I had an examination

together as were together in a single exam room from when I was 11 to 15. Over Xmas I was at my brother's house when we had the following discussion

"Do you know Doctor _____ is still practicing? I noticed his name when I took the kids to their doctor,apparently he was with the HMO's practice" said my brother

"I hope he is not examining my nephews" I replied as I remembered how ,on our first checkup with him, both of us were made to strip absolutely naked and we stayed disrobed until both of us were examined and he discussed his findings with my mother, pointing out spots on our bodies that had 'potential issues'.

"I remember how we were both buck naked with mom teasing us and me hoping no one was going to come in and see us in the altogether" I said "I remember how you practically blushed red when mom stripped you even though I realized that I was going to be as naked as you were. I still remember that sinking feeling as I was removing my briefs and realized that we were going to be poked and prodded with every stitch of our clothing on the only chair in the room"

"Oh god yes,almost 40 years ago and I still remember it to this day " replied my brother ,as he trailed off. I thought we were going to move to another topic when he said to me "I felt more secure at both of us in the exam room completely nude, I liked that my big brother was going to be examined the same way as I was, I felt good that you were in the room with me. You even helped me to dress before you put anything back on. I was protected when you were in the room with me, both of us disrobed"

I was genuinely moved by what he said.

Did anyone else ever have conversations with siblings that shared feelings of your exams?

I did have the guts to bring up memories of our exams together with my big brother a little time back.

We go to the gym together and I brought it up by saying "Can you remember when we were little and that doctor said to mam about me being overweight?"

"Yeah, you were a right chubster when you were young, can remember you were in your y-fronts being weighed and he poked your fat tummy and told mam how much weight you needed to lose. I think I poked fun at you after when we got home that day?"

"Yeah you did, calling me a fatty and all sorts and lifting my t-shirt to wobble my tummy about. Not so fat now though eh?"

"Definitely not, we're both on top of our game all the time. It was embarrassing being down to my pants in front of you at the docs, I can remember it was for you when you got in your teens and you were blushing about me and mam being their with you in your boxers being examined, prodded and poked all over."

Fun to reminisce with him about our exams.

I've talked about it with sibling before when he was curious about it but also genuinely cared.

I received occasional exams with my male cousin who was two years older. My mom took us and was present as we were taken into an exam room. We had to strip to our briefs and then one at a time saw the doctor. The nurse would weigh you, take bp, and rectal temps done if a shot was to be provided. Either way, the exam meant being undressed and staying exposed. When done, you go to put back on your briefs but had to sit and wait while another exam was done. Usually this was me and feeling nervous. Shots were delivered once each of us finished.

I recall having a lot of apprehension and nervousness prior to going into the exam room. It was a challenge to focus on anything else but knowing I would be bare very soon. I honestly don't think I paid that much attention to seeing my cousin naked or watching him be examined. The threat of a shot always killed curiosity.

@medfetperson like you, my brother and I spent pretty much our entire childhood going to the doctor together for annual check-ups, seeing each other in our briefs and when the time came, naked. It wasn't a big deal because we bathed together up until I started to um... change. Unlike you and your brother, we never talked about it with each other. One time though, both of us were complaining to our father about the doctor having us take off our underwear and our dad told us both to shut up because when he was a boy through his teen years, he had to be 100% naked for the entire duration of the time in the exam room, no matter what he was there for.

My brother and I were in each others exams for many years so there wasn’t much to discuss I guess. When we starting getting separated into different rooms we still didn’t compare notes. My brother was very modest. Even today I see my brother’s PA and he did not warn me that she’d do a genital and hernia exam. It’s not his way. Maybe if he were a different type of person and the roles were reversed I would have told him something like that. I always wished we had the kind of relationship where we’d tell each other stuff like “watch out, so-and-so, is gonna make you pull down your underwear and then grab your balls.” But we don’t so 🤷
