Full Nude Gynecological Exam with No Gown or Drape

It is actually mandatory for women to wear a gown for the entire examination

The doctor will ask to lower the gown when examining the heart, lungs and breathing

For the next gyno examination you will be asked to lift the dress from the bottom, that's according to my experience

I've always just been given what I call a large kleenex. It's a disposable paper that just covers my belly and breast's. It has fallen on the floor before leaving me totally naked. I wasn't bothered by that at all.

I have not had a nude exam but I really would not mind it at all. It would make the exam easier and I think a gown is just a nuisance and fiddly to put on and drop for a breast exam and lift for the pelvic part of the exam. I have been going to him for years for my exams, he has seen every inch of me, and I have been seen by men on nudist beaches anyway so I am not shy about it.

I have never had a nude exam. I have always been given a gown.

My wife always takes her bottom off - pants or skirt and underwear.

One time the doctor asked her to lift all the way up her blouse and bra to expose breasts for a breast exam.

She was on the gyn chair with no pants or underwear and blouse and bra pulled all the way up....

So, she was pretty close to complete nudity.

In the US any male doctor who performs a fully nude gynecological exam with no gown or drape can kiss his ass and his license to practice medicine goodbye

We read that gowns are a peculiarly American deal. and often not used in Europe. that sounded so hot that i called around to see if any local doctors do not use a gown. I told the offices that my wife did not like wasting resources throwing out paper gowns. and a gown seems unnecessary during a complete exam. Finally found a first-year doctor who said it was fine with him. he said, "it actually makes the exam much easier for me.

so we went to see him. he asked if we wanted the nurse there, but we said no, and i was there to act as a chaperone anyway.

If more people did this, we could bring about change. As we move forward in time, we can start to move away from this modesty narrative that they have, if we made it known that gowns are a waste and unnecessary. They'll learn to save money, which hopefully ultimately would save us money on unnecessary measure to ensure modesty. I mean, have a supply therefore those to whom it is important to maintain a sense of modesty for whatever reason. But don't go through them for all the people who feel okay or better off without them.

In Italy don't give you any gowns or sheets, you undress from the waist down and you stay that way until you get dressed again. sure, I'd like a little more coverage too, because I don't like walking from the changing room to the bed with the doctor waiting for you. the only visit where I was completely naked was with the dermatologist

My wife has wondered about this as well. Her doctor uses a gown and a sheet which seems like overkill to her. Whichever end he starts at the other end has the gown closed and the sheet pulled over. It has a lot to do with "being appropriate" as I am sure someone got sued somewhere is why. Oddly when she goes to the dermatologist, he does not do it the same. My wife works in medicine and they hammer home the concept of preserving your dignity with patient draping. Her thought and mine as well is your dignity is kind of already gone once someone is buried knuckle deep in your lady bits.

There are some interesting videos you can find on the internet from the 60's or 70's that show that level of draping was not used. Again, it probably has something to do with lawsuits.

We dont know about those gowns in germany. maybe before a surgery, yes, but at no gyno, procto, uro, skin exam, no i never had those gowns on.

Like CFNFpatientin already said we dont really use gowns or drapes here in germany at all. Only for surgical kind of procedures sometimes and before a surgery. About nude exams, to be honest, I do that in the summer months at my gynecologist when it's really hot outside and I am wearing a Sumer dress. There is nothing about it, she is also a woman and I have nothing to hide

Sure, thats also no problem for me, with my female gyn. A single male would also be fine for me. But: It gets interesting when 2 males examine you, I had some situations where I felt unsecure example at a proctologic exam infront of male doc and his also male nurse. not my world, feel not safe and think about all the male patients who get very more often a female-only staff as examination-team, escpecially in urological situation or even cystoscopies. Awkward ^^

I believe my wife said that she is undressed from the waist down and covers up with a drape and unhooks her bra for the breast exam leaving her shirt on. I don’t know how a doctor can do a proper breast exam with that much exposure. But for play exams, that’s another story.

I'm naked from the waist down for my exam, and it is embarrassing standing with my slit on show before my check and tests. It's even more embarrassing afterwards when climbing down and my vulva is splayed after the lips got pulled back wide and the speculum has been up my vagina.

We were overseas in the EU for a couple months one summer and managed to set up a few exams there, all were minimal covering compared to here in the US, but the only country where she was completely nude during the entire exam was in the UK. Probably 7 or 8 years ago. I managed to get her into a second doctor there on our way back home a few weeks later and nearly the same setup. The second doctor did everything except the pelvic exam on one table and then put her on another with a bit of an incline for the rest. The sheer novelty of the approach was overwhelmingly exciting not to mention quite pleasurable to watch.

Is it embarrassing for you at a gyno or other intimate exams, when doctor is female, too? Or only when a male examine you? And what about a third person in room? Lets say male gyno + male nurse (had that at proctologist) + you as the only female naked in room? Whats your horror scenario? Write privately if you wanna. Greetings from German regions in Europe.

Both during my training and now when i am seeing patients in clinic, its always a gown.. Uncover only the part to be examined. For skin, i examine and document with each area.. For back, at the end, they stand and i examine the back for any pigmented lesions. Some defer it, where i document as deferred.

I am sure it is very different in Dermatology exam for pigmented lesion how they examine. (My med school rotations had very less time in term)

Greetings thanks for your question. I always specifically request a female doctor and no chaperone is required here. Yes I do find it embarrassing being exposed in front of a female doctor, I know she has a vulva too but it's only mine that's on display. The only time a man examined my vulva was when I had a skin exam that I accidentally thought would be a female doctor. It was very embarrassing showing him my vulva and having the lips pulled back.
