Was Corner Time obligatory after a spanking?

After a spanking or whupping did anybody have to do obligatory corner time as an extra punishment? If our spankings were administered in the living room or kirchen we always had to; unless we were immediately going somewhere. We would have to stand with arms and hands by our sides and were strictly forbidden to rub our hot and stinging rear ends! We were always given a chance to rub our blazing butts during our post punishment ‘spanking dance’! You could not but help do that anyway!!!! LOL After 2 or 3 minutes we were expected to compose ourselves and make our way to the corner; or when several of us had been spanked/whupped, find a convenient and available space. There we had to stand fully exposing our ‘scorched behinds’ the objective being to both humiliate us and ‘focus our minds’ on our wrongdoing! Also to serve as a deterrent to other kids about the consequences of misbehavior! It also provided a amusing sight to any other adults who might be present who had, invariably, been in the same position themselves when they were our age! Failure to observe the ‘no rub rule’ earnt you a couple of hard slaps to the bottom and the order to put your hands on your head! You were then warned that further failure to comply with the ‘no rubbing rule’ would mean another session over the knee or the back of the sofa! I only remember this happening twice; both times this fate befell my sister Sarah (after a spanking from Mom) who seemed to have more sensitive skin and nerve endings than the rest of us!! LOL Mom was a real stickler when it came to the ‘no rubbing rule’! Dad was a little more relaxed; particularly with my sisters! When we were spanked in our bedrooms for some reason we were not required to do corner time. I never quite understood this! Parents can be strange creatures sometimes!! LOL

I never had corner time after a spanking. My parents used to leave me in my room until they said I could come out.

I would have happily exchanged places with you, Andrew! How I would love to have been able to retire to my bedroom where I could have focused on trying to extinguish the ‘flames’ consuming my backside! LOL Soothing my wounded butt with a wet wash cloth and jar of cold cream; rather than standing in the corner where I was forbidden to even rub my boiling hot rear end! LOL

Corner time after being spanked was not obligatory but it happened. If I was being punished during dinner time, I would be sent to the corner for a while, and then dad would call me to his chair, take me over his knee. After the spanking I might be told to pull up my pants and go sit down, or I might be told to leave my pants down and stand in the corner and think about why I'd been punished.

This dynamic happened sometimes in the den as well. Dad would spank me during the television commercials and then order me to the corner by the TV. Usually by the next commercial break I was told to pull up my pants, but it happened a few times, that I went back over his knee for another dose and back to the corner.

Perhaps the sight should have evoked some empathy from the other adults if they'd been in the same situation when young. This because most spankings are for inconsequential ‘misdeeds’ anyway and are generally remembered as such by adults.

If the sight of a naked spanked kid provided amusement to an adult, that sort of supports my notion that physical punishments becomes a tradition in families by way of handing out payback. You couldn't take out your resentment for the punishment on your parents when you were young, so you might as well do the next best thing and give your kids the same treatment when you grow up and become an adult.

Sort of like hazing. It is awful to go through, but once having gone through it, you just want to inflict it on the next newcomers …

I was already in my bedroom being spanked. I was just left there to think about my behaviour and its consequences.

Not growing up but have as an adult. Usually in the living room.

My childhood spankings until about 16 were exactly as OP explained. I agree with @agracier, as an adult while I enjoy a good spanking, many of my childhood memories from the humiliation in front of family and friends have led to many therapy sessions due to the trauma they causes. My therapist once asked "What did I want the other adults to do then?", my answer was tell my mom this is wrong and for me to get dressed and go to my room.

We normally waited in the corner with lower outer clothing off (so in pants or knickers) before the spanking. Afterwards we normally went back bare for ten or fifteen minutes, before we were sent to our rooms.

@mj20130 At home, before a spanking—whether it was to be administered with a bare hand or a strap—I had to get completely naked.

After the spanking, I would have to stand in the corner, stark naked, with my buttocks bright red and my hands on my head, for the rest of the evening until bedtime.

At school, the child being punished had to go up to the teacher’s platform, lower their trousers and underwear, and lie across the teacher’s lap. She would then spank their bare buttocks with her hand until they were bright red. Afterward, the child had to strip completely naked and stand in the corner with their hands on their head.
