The title of this post re: TSA and kink made me laugh coz (and no disrespect to anyone who is a TSA agent that may be in the audience, I’m sure you are cool), well, they are like, the opposite of anything I would think of as arousing (then again I have a job that a lot of people would consider unsexy, so there you go).
Because of the nature of my very own job they should not really bother with my luggage. I have the required documents and permits for everything I have in my carry on that may require a permit at all, and I don’t usually check in anything. They can, however, still search my carry on and routinely do. Since sex toys are not illegal and neither are personal hygiene items, I would only consider checking in my bags if they contained liquids in containers that exceeded the federal limit.
According to the TSA’s very own website: “Each passenger may carry liquids, gels and aerosols in travel-size containers that are 3.4 ounces or100 milliliters. Each passenger is limited to one quart-size bag of liquids, gels and aerosols. Common travel items that must comply with the 3-1-1 liquids rule include toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash and lotion” (spelling ain’t mine). (Source: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/frequently-asked-questions/what-3-1-1-liquids-rule) 🥴
I would take my chances with TSA and enjoy the shade of red their face turns when you explain what the thing they are holding is used for.
On a more serious note, powders can be trickier than toys or liquids. Bags of light colored powders (miralax, anyone?) or crystals (Epsom salts?) may catch the attention of law enforcement officers, including but not limited to, TSA agents. It’s never happened to me but I have been called to check said powders. Just my 2 cents and experience.
