For years, I had an actual round white plastic baby diaper pail, but it didn't really hold many of “my size” diapers. Then when we had kids, my wife said I should get rid of it so I did. Then about ten years later, I bought a white plastic kitchen garbage can and have used that since and also, have never washed it out because I love the way it smells.
As for using it, well, I'm not 24/7, I wear them for fun, relaxation and because it's long been my favorite way of getting myself off. So lately it's kind of like a controlled version of the “binge and purge” thing--I usually go to bed in my diapers on Saturday night, wake up with them soaked and get myself off in them in the morning, then put them into the diaper pail for future enjoyment.
After they've been in there for 4-5 hours they really start to smell wonderful to me, so I'll get back into them, pee in them some more, and have another round of fun. I just absolutely love the way they feel and smell! Sometimes, I'll take them off, put them back in the pail, and have another round of this a few hours later. After that, it's “out of my system” for a while so they get washed and I take a shower.
So, they're not really in the diaper pail giving off that smell very long. But sometimes while they are, I'll put the pail in the guest room or behind a door to the attic stairs because my wife doesn't like the smell and doesn't want them in the closet because she says it makes her clothes smell like diapers.
On occasions where this isn't possible, I'll put a plastic trash bag tightly around the top so that the smell is contained, then put the lid on.
If I'm lucky enough to be able to load my wet diapers, I usually then eventually just have my naughty fun then rinse them off in the shower, clean me off in the shower, then into the washer they go. I don't like putting poopy ones in the pail because I don't want it to smell like poop--just pee. But once or twice I had to do this anyway so I first lined the pail with a plastic trash bag (it still smelled like poop for a few days but eventually returned to its usually wonderful pee smell).
Years ago when I was single, I was able to spend lots more time enjoying my diaper fun and often would leave the pail in my bedroom with the lid off so the entire room would smell like wet diapers. Or, I'd do this in the guest room and close the door. At one point I even had a plastic folding clothes drying rack and I'd hang the wet diapers on there and let them dry. Now, that really made the room smell like diapers! But that's no longer possible unless my wife goes out of town and I know that my kids aren't going to show up for a few days. Oh well.
