So I am interested to hear about peoples experiences, men and women, with viagra. Does the erection feel different? Were you prescribed it? Did you visit a sexual health person? Any other comments.

I read an article about a guy in his late 50's who was diagnosed with prostate cancer and one of the many interesting things he mentioned is that no-one at all in his first 5 years after diagnosis mentioned that viagra may help with loss of libido and erectile performance. Then when he had lost both these abilities it was too late and he was told that if he had addressed it sooner then viagra may have helped him to maintain a healthy sex life. He lamented that there is just no discussion in Australia around sexual health and maintaining a healthy intimate relationship with a partner post diagnosis. It just isn't talked about among guys. So I am hoping to create a discussion around the topic.

Typically I can achieve an erection without Viagra - but I can't sustain it as long as I would like. I've tried Viagra and it does help with that. The downside is it takes about a hour to work (plan ahead) and it only lasts for about 4 hours. I prefer Cialis.

The primary difference between Viagra and Cialis is the length of time each of the drugs stays in your system. For the active agent Sildenafil to kick in, you generally need to take Viagra an hour before sex. At that time, you’re at peak potential – and the effects last generally for about four to six hours. Tadalafil in Cialis stays active in your system for much longer. You’ll feel its full effects quickly (often within 30 mins) and it will remain effective for the next 36 hours. Sometimes even longer.

There are probably some differences in the drugs and individual reactions to them. You should discuss which is better for you with your doctor before trying either one.

At this stage I have no medical req to have viagra, (haven't heard of the other) but I think it is important to create conversation around this topic. I agree that medical advice is required. I am also hoping to hear from anyone who has seen a sex therapist in regards to this topic or a sexual health practitioner.

With either Viagra or Cialis you require stimulation to get erect - it just doesn't pop up magically and stay there. Priapism is a possible (but rare) side effect. This is a prolonged erection unaccompanied by sexual desire and unaffected by orgasm. This can be painful and permanently injure the penis. Blood flows into the penis but doesn’t flow out. The loss of circulation deprives the corpora cavernosa of oxygen and causes a painful, rigid erection. If left untreated, the loss of oxygen can damage erectile tissues, cause the formation of scar tissue, and lead to a permanent loss of function.

The drugs have warnings about priapism, but in reality it is very rare. If it happens, you should see a doctor immediately

Several years ago I used Viagra and Cialis, it would take about 20 to 30 minutes to work and like mentioned here it would not magically get hard but required stimulation to get an erection but it would get very hard and stay hard without worrying about losing your erection until you came. It seemed to work a day a or so later but maybe not as hard. Only side effects that I had was a light headache and minor sinus problem. Fast forward to now, last year i was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had robotic surgery and had nerve sparing prostate removal. this left me with several issues that supposedly will get better in 2 to three years, first was incontinence, which is almost gone now , second is ejaculation , which will never come back and third is loss of sensitivity, this is starting to come, the head is very sensitive the spot under my penis close to the head has not, but is sensitive enough to have an orgasm and lastly I cannot get a hard erection yet, it get about 40 percent firm, the urologist has prescribed a low dosage of Tadalafil , 5mg, which he says will aid in returning blood flow.

The only way for me to get a firm erection now is using an injection of Trimix#1 that he prescribed from a compounding pharmacy which is not that expensive 85 dollars which includes the drug, 10 insulin syringes and alcohol wipes, in to my penis, I know a lot of men are cringing right now and I did too but it’s not really that bad. Stiffeners can work but aren't magical and don't work in every instance. Sometimes a dose a couple days in a row can help too. You just have to try it and see. I had an old family doc that would give me samples because insurance doesn't always cover it. He would tell me I was getting in his private stash! Unfortunately he passed away and they are very hard to get now.

Due to stressed life at certain points of my life, I used Cialis (never Viagra) and some others. Same effect every time : way easier to get a true erection, which lasts a little longer than without. The Mrs was happy about that (she was the one telling me to buy and take the pill 😄)

I don't remember differences between these different pills. Maybe it was about how long it stays in your system. If I remember right, Cialis was quite good (20mn or so to work and 2 days in your system). Another one was quite good about it, but I don't remember the name 😞

Already mentioned once or twice, but worthy of mentioning again: any of the drugs prescribed for ED address only the physiological aspects of the problem, not the psychological. You need to be mentally sexually stimulated for the drug to do any good. I'm not a doc, and I'm really speaking here without anything but anecdotal evidence, but some of that is first hand. I have been using generic Viagra for about 3 years now. I buy 100mg pills and cut them in half and then in half again so I take 25mg at a time. They seem to work for me in about 10-15 minutes and last about 6 to 8 hours. I tried Viagra briefly when It first became available, many years ago, just to see what it was like. My doctor wrote a prescription for a small quantity. There are other more serious rare side effects. Also contraindications with other drugs can be very serious so ask your doc if it’s safe for you.

I tried both Cialis & Viragra with limited results. Basically only a partial erection that lasts less than 10 min.

I have an enlarged prostate. The current treatments are not satisfactory for a number of reasons. as an experiment, I used aspirin as an anti-inflammatory, which worked.

Then further research is Tadalafil/Cialas opens up and targets the arteries in my nethers and I’ve been quite encouraged by the results.

No @Ms_Lila . He has not been diagnosed nor has it been mentioned as a health issue.

I used Viagra and it worked, but I had some bad side effects. My face got flushed and my ears got hot. I could live with that, but when my nose and sinuses just slammed shut and I could only breathe out of my mouth, that was a problem.
