Some Trivia
The inventor of Vaseline came up with the product to replace Rod wax . . lol . . I bet the Rod felt better too
2) Did you know that by 1875 just 15 years after its introduction (oooh !) Americans were buying it at the rate of a jar a minute
Could be a bit of a Porky or maybe it applied to DC residents . . it's been said there's a lot of slippery buggers there.
3) Robert Chesebrough came up with his recipe aged 22 after loosing his job. According to Chesebrough he took one teaspoonfull daily for the rest of his life & died at age 96.
Could it be he really got off on his invention . . Self priming colon tube
4) At age 50 Chesebrough contracted a serious bout of pleurisy. Resulting in his wife coating his entire body from head to toe with Vaseline.
I can imagine his mates nicknaming him Slick
To answer the questions, I do indeed still use Vaseline & keep several jars for a range of different purposes. One being as a moisture retardent on handtools (don't laugh) that could be prone to mill rust. Router ( no not rooter) bits another following their useage & storage.
Some Drive shafts get the protective treatment also
For those that require a masking agent prior to spray painting enamels Vaseline serves the purpose well & best applied with a pure soft bristle brush for smooth application.
When used as a retardent its best reduced down to enable ease of smearing by adding in a measured quantity of thin clear machine oil mixed thoroughly.
My friend Doc Dildo likes it too
