1950s and early '60s TV and film of women in stockings?

Being a leg man, I've always enjoyed seeing ladies in short skirts and pantyhose or stockings. It is a shame that fewer ladies wear nylons these days.

But I think virtually all ladies wore skirts/dresses with stockings in the 1950s and early '60s. Lately, I've been watching episodes of “Perry Mason” and “Alfred Hitchcock” on MeTV late at night. They feature many beautiful women, all in dresses and, I assume, stockings. Hem lines, of course, were lower back in those conservative days. TV and film also were much more conservative, but every now and then there is a somewhat risque scene (for that time) – skirts hiked up, showing tops of stockings and suspenders, women removing or putting on stockings, close-up shots of legs, etc. Doesn't have the same effect in black and white, but that also allows for the imagination to take over and I have often wondered how erotic and sensual it must have been to have made love to women at that time and enjoy the pleasure of removing their stockings after you've run your hands up and down her legs.

Hitchcock, in particular, seemed to be a horny old man. He teased viewers often with short scenes and snippets with sexual connotations. Like in “Vertigo” when Jimmy Stewart, after pulling a suicidal Kim Novak out of San Francisco Bay, hung her clothes, including her stockings, near the fireplace to dry.

Then, in the late '60s we were treated to Star Trek and hot young women in ridiculously short skirts and black stockings.

Before I go up to my room to masturbate, let me ask if anyone can recall a particularly alluring scene from TV or movies in the 1940s, '50s and early '60s with women in stockings?

I never made it to movies, but I did make it to Leg Show, Penthouse, Hustler, Tip Top, and Swank. If anyone has the August, 1989 Leg Show? I'll be there!

I've been a stockings girl since 1962 when I was 11 years old. I am a personal friend of Miss Dian Hanson of the past Leg Show Magazine and Mr. Elmer Batters of Tip Top Magazine who passed away on June 25th, 1997.

I never thought I was a pretty woman. I did think I had nice legs and pretty feet. Back in our days photography was very expensive. Rolls of 24 or 36 film was not cheap nor was turning the film into pictures. I would be lucky to get less than 50% of usual pictures. The Cameras of today are great!

Legs and Stockings were the best for me. Painting me toenails was a must. And I liked ankle bracelets! All of this was an artform! As was the type of stockings I wore. Mine had to be Dark RH&T or Fully Fashioned.

One of the worst things was “Side Pull” While Wearing Seamed Stockings. What I would do is this. I would remove the back strap, which was the problem. Here I would use Geometry. My legs are 360 degrees around. Divide that into four pieces, 90, 180, 270 and 360. The back strap was made to “Side Pull” the Seamed Stockings. The women that tried to fix this found the pulling came back. And it looked terrible! So, what I did is remove the back strap and put it into the 270degree position. Laying the garment down, the 90 and 270 positions were in line with both. Side pull was no longer a problem.

Little things like that meant a great deal, especially when Seamed Stockings were worn in public. A lady could be an Eye Catcher or she could look Butt Ugly if she did not know what she was doing.

Noticed how your stockings had been centred properly & followed the back from your (heels) feet. Had an exhilerating relationship with an older woman of South African descent, educated in England (private school), who later set her sights on a career within the entertainment industry that practiced a similar method of leg adornment, she was meticulous about how her legs looked as she appeared in stagework. Pantomime not so critical but she would take just as much care. Her attitude being presentation in appearance was every thing. From what I had learned of her younger self, was that she'd invested in deportment classes, elocution & make-up all while doing jazz ballet. . .I should refer to her as Lady M rather than just she. Recently discovered on various streaming sites some old 1950's variety shows that had dance numbers - even though the video quality is not the best; wow! love looking at the sexy legs and some of the outfits are very enticing!

Those old films and shows are absolutely a turn-on for me. I came of age in the middle to late 1960's when stockings were common and pantyhose were just starting to become popular with women, especially with the miniskirt evolution. I grew up in the era of garter belts and nylons generally as the norm for women's apparel. I had a paper route when I started to notice the opposite sex and having access to many yards on laundry day, garter belts and stockings were in abundance. My young teen imagination was always intrigued knowing that the housewives on my route were wearing these! Oh, those good old days, Great memories…

Recently I was looking over some burlesque stills from the mid 1940's through to the 1960's and located literally hundreds of individual pics

What stood out (apart from the conical breast pasties) was the variety of women's shapewear in the form of cossetted underwear, range of bras, leotards, corsetry, both smooth & open netted stockings, lace trimmed panties, heels, suspender belts, supporting breast half cups exposing the upper areolas all employed to capture the males attention

I started out researching Pin-Ups (historical in film & by character) of the various eras and spent considerable time just with burlesque alone

Ran across an excellent dance segment performed in conjunction with an all girl revue featuring Rita Hayworth . . . from memory it was dated 1946 . . . oooh the legs & ultra skimpy uniforms.

Another is Cybil Shepherd in her young modelling days . . . Carol Lynley another

In my opinion: the stocking, girdle, or garter belt look, was ruined around the late 1960s by panty hose.

Both mother and my aunt always wore stockings and heels, i can remember their heels clicking on the floor as they walked. Daytime wear was brown, in evenings or going to church sometimes black. I can remember the first time i saw my aunt in seemed stockings, i thought they were so sexy. Mother always wore a 50's style dress and would have it on first thing in the morning. Her and aunt would often be sitting at kitchen table drinking coffee and smoking when i came down in the morning. I found their dresses, stockings and heels quite intimidating, always a sign of control for me. They would lead me by the hand upstairs if they decided it was going to be an enema day
