Broaden out a bit, Zity?!

I've expressed this before, more or less in passing, and asked why Zity is beset with so many enema posts. Surely their number here is out of all proportion, especially these days? Recently a Zity-er noted online that childhood enemas - where it all began for many enema fans - are rapidly becoming a thing of the past, replaced by medications that treat ailments directly rather than by purging. Sure, I did learn that Zity started as an enema site, so there's an understandable carry-over from its origins. But, even so, the question now arises: if Zity is to attract a sizeable number of new members, surely its appeal should be broadened? One area I've suggested previously involves encouraging fetishists of all kinds to come on board here. There are literally hundreds of fetishes now known about, not just my favourite: medfet. Of course, some of these could be rather boring - tree fetishes, say - although maybe their basis could be Freudian (a tree trunk having a phallic appeal?)! The topic of how fetishes start ran here for a while, but eventually dried up. ‘Crazy doctors’ was another topic - historically, there have been a lot of those, showing that a tiny minority of medical professionals can have their own aberrant behaviours. A recent thread on Zity has been about pediatricians who seem to take advantage of their position to undress their patients unnecessarily, or for having the patient wait like that for an inordinate time.

But no, I'm basically defeated, aren't I?! The above suggestions are never going to fill out columns and columns of Zity space! Can others here suggest new avenues that Zity might explore?

I wonder, have you gone under “Discussions” and then drilled down under each and every category?

For instance, under “Medical Fetish” there are over 21 categories listed.

Click on any of those categories and there are all sorts of sub-categories and discussions.

It's the same for the rest of the categories.

Soooo I'm wondering what areas of interest (categories) you think are missing.

Perhaps the question that you are really asking is why aren't there more people with interests other than enemas and spanking. Zity comes up pretty quickly if someone searches for enema forums. Same thing for Medfet and spanking. But if you google BDSM, a slew of other sites come up. So perhaps the issue is how to get Zity to show up higher in the search engine listings for different topics.

There are 14 main fetish/kink categories listed for Zity.biz, not including Help and Information.

Medical Fetish, Dominance and submission, BDSM, Kinky, Ass Play, E-stim, Feminisation, Diaper Fetish, Age Play, Sex Toys, Enemas, Sex is Fun, LGBT, and The Lounge.

Under each of those categories are numerous sub categories for discussion. Discussions started and continued by the members of Zity.biz. If members don't start the discussions there is nothing that Zity.biz can do about that. If members don't continue or have any interest in a discussion, again there isn't much that Zity.biz can do.

Zity.biz forum is made by the members. If you have an interest in something start it or comment on it. It won't be discussed if you don't participate.

That being said, if you are seeing topics that do not interest you there is a way to limit seeing those. I do not remember the “how” but maybe @DrZ can comment on that with instruction and such. Then maybe less enema posts will show in your feed.

A suggestion about starting new topics…Please be sure to do a search for your topic before starting anything new so as not to double up on discussions. Zity.biz has been around along time and there is alot of discussions hiding deeper in the forum listings.

Zity is already pretty broad in that about two dozen distinct, if sometimes related, fetishes are discussed here. Any broader, and it would cease to be what it is for the people who really have no other place to go with their fetish interests. My thing is medical fetish - where else is there on the Internet with a large, active medical fetish community that isn't just an afterthought or occasional consequence of other fetishes? I have engaged in and I have interests in many other fetishes, and other activities besides medical exams growing up affected the fetishes I have now, but I like that Zity has a relatively narrow focus when compared to sites like Fetlife or Recon.

@kenneth177 - @sweetkissestoo, @MissStress and @JakeNewYork are all quite correct. The enema fetish does have a large number of devotees, which explains why there is a high level of activity in that area, but there those of us who do not have that interest but have others such as medical fetish.

You and I have discussed this before, and it has always left me puzzled as to why you don't seem to be seeing (or perhaps not finding?) the piles of content related to the other areas the others posting on this thread speak of.

I believe I have said much the same thing to you myself only in more detail, and your response didn't make it clear whether you had or had not actually looked at the forum from the top level down.

Perhaps you can tell me just where it is you are looking. Alternatively there is a way to set preferred classification tags so that you can opt in to certain areas and not include others. I can advise on that if required.

It needs to be recognised that members will almost always want to discuss those fetishes in which they have some interest, and you see that pattern across the various parts of the forum. Conversely, academic discussions of very obscure fetishes that almost no one has, or those that no one has even heard of, will almost always attract very few (or no) responses. Sorry, but that's just the way it is.

DrZ, you will have to answer me this question, please. Whenever I log into Zity, it always opens at What's new/Discussions. Once there, I simply scroll down to the list of about 40 or so recent posts and see what people are currently talking about. I like to do that. I don't want an edited list of latest posts that excludes some of them. So, is that list the real (full) McKoy, or not? I know about separately drilling down to favourite topics, but that's not what I want to do initially.

When you login, you land on the “Home” Zity page that shows the latest posts added under each Discussion/Category.

That is why it is entitled “What's New - Discussions”

(If you ever want to navigate back to this page, just click on “Zity” in the nav bar and Voila! you're back at the login page.

To see ALL of the different Discussion/Categories, please do the following.

1. Look at the top navigation bar

2. Click on “Discussions” the page will refresh to show you the list of Discussions/Categories that are availavle.

3. Read down the list of the many Discussions/Categories.

4. Click on any one that interests you to see the slew of sub-categories that are available to read.

I'd actually suggest that you start at the top, opening each and every single one to familiarize yourself of just what is available. There are a LOT of discussions of the different sub-categories.

Why haven't you gone exploring?

This forum is incredibly diverse in content and what it caters for.

My medfet and enema fetish is long established but I have already aquired new interests from being here.

The content tag list is exhaustive. The dominance of one particular area will come and go over a time period and reflects the majority of membership.

Forum creator and its moderators have a great thing here and perform an amazing FREE service.

I wouldn't presume to advise on direction of the forum.

This is not a straightforward yes or no answer, but it's definitely much closer to “No” than to "Yes".

That page, which is the front page, is filtered according to what you have opted in with any classification tags you have selected. As I can't know which tags (if any) you have selected, I can't know how much of the new content you are and are not seeing from that page. Consequently it might be a very narrow view or a fairly broad one, but I'll hazard a guess that it is probably far from complete. Essentially, your mileage may vary.

The front page doesn't show you all of the site's content, historically. For that, you need to go to the top level of the forum and drill down. And when I mention the top level of the forum, that is what you are referring to as “Discussions/Browse”. From there, you can descend to the subordinate classifications underneath each top-level interest, as @sweetkissestoo describes perfectly.

1. Look at the top navigation bar

2. Click on “Discussions” the page will refresh to show you the list of Discussions/Categories that are available.

3. Read down the list of the many Discussions/Categories.

Picture the forum and its subcategories as a root and branch structure, and you'll be able to navigate it much more effectively than it seems you have been doing up to now.

Yes, it's potentially very different.

As you do not want to filter anything, I recommend you use “Recent Unseen”, which is one of the buttons you see on the Discussions/Browse" page. That way you will see an unfiltered list of threads with new posts you haven't read. Now, while certain interests such as medical fetish and enemas will be heavily represented in that list, there will probably be a few other things. I'm seeing one now in the Recent Unseen list where members are fantasising about encountering aliens, for example. You may or may not see that from the front page. I know I certainly wouldn't with my own classification tag selections.

This starts to explain why your view of the forum has always seemed to be at variance with mine, so at last we might be getting somewhere.

Enemas have absolutely no appeal to me what so ever med fet, I only have a passing interest in.

Yet I am happy with what Zity has to offer. May I suggest if there is a fetish you would like to see discussed, why not start a discussion or a blog?

I found zity.biz whilst searching the net for litererotica about submission and humiliation.

I will also add that through Zity, I have made some really good friends, I hope you will too.

When I log in and go to the “Browse”--there are currently 9,195 posts on Medical Fetish--2,230 posts on Enemas and 2,328 posts on The Lounge. From a strictly numerical viewpoint it seems like Medical Fetish comes in first for general discussions.

I for one am quite happy with what I find here on Zity. My original interest was medfet, and that's still my go-to subject area. I have no interest in enemas, so I simply ignore those topics. Now I also have BDSM/Bondage/Spanking interest, so I enjoy reading all of that content.

I find that the volume of posts for any given subject area just depends on the day. Most days, I find plenty to read in the areas that I enjoy. Often I find that medfet posts outnumber enema posts by at least 2-to-1. Then on some days, enema posts come out on top. It just depends on the day.

Hmm. More than one responder to this thread seems to think that I am a newcomer to Zity. That's not true. I have created dozens, even hundreds, of posts over the years, including more than one on the topic of fetishes, and fetish-formation. I have made many Friends here. (I'm not sure what number of points I've reached, nor how many Friends I currently have. I also have half-a-dozen specialised Albums. You can check my profile-page, I dare say.)

@kenneth177 - As I said, I can't know what classification tags you have selected, but I think in your case you would be better off using the Discussions/Recent Unseen page as I advised. That way you will definitely be able to see everything without any filtering.

Er… Discussions/Recent Unseen and Discussions/Recently Active Topics are not the same thing. I am being precise with my terms when I advise you to use Discussions/Recent Unseen -

• Discussions/Recently Active Topics is only a recent snapshot, a cached view, of what was posted a while ago. It is not fully up to date.
• Discussions/Recent Unseen is up to date, and unfiltered. This is why I was very specific about which one I advised you to use.

By default, what you see when you enter to Zity.biz is the Front page

What you see there by default is a choice made by you.

That choice can be for example

You can change that default view in Front page.

When in Front page, click the Options in the context menu. And there click Default page

Those preferences are the Preferred tags select by the user.

The Front page was intended to be useful specially for those know what they want to see and prefer to see as little as possible what they do not wish to see.

So if you judge how narrow or wide the kinks spectrum in Zity.biz is, only by what you see on the Front page, you go wrong. This is because the Front page is already narrowed to your selected preferences.

Personally, I view Zity as user generated. That defines the site for me. It's not that we need to “broaden out,” since the individual users are the people who define what the site is and does. Perhaps we need more and different users, but that is sort of up to them. I've been taking a journey through all the images here, and there are multitudes of interests. I find the site meets my interests just fine, but I'm definitely not interested in some things presented here. Does that mean that they should not post? No, I believe that each member's interest should be accepted. They have the same rights as I do. No illegal content, though.

One of my fetishes doesn't have a name, as far as I've been able to discover. The nearest to it appears to be ‘odontophilia’. (Yes, a teeth fetish.) But I enjoy all parts of the mouth and further back in there. No, not ‘vore’. I have no fantasy about finding myself inside the mouth of a woman or anyone else, and being held in suspense for long enough to look around - and feel very, very scared! - before being swallowed. But those two things/fetishes seem to be relatively popular compared with mine. 😕

Thanks, Webby (post # 19 )! I think that u advised me to change my preferences - or maybe delete them - if I want to see a truer indication when I first come on Zity of what's been occupying posters here.

Hmm. Trouble is, there are a couple of hundred, maybe, of available preferences. So I've stuck with my Primary ones and ticked a few more there. We'll see if that gives me a fuller, potentially more interesting (to me) list of recent posts.

P.S. Did you add anything when I said (post #22 ) that one or two of my fetishes aren't listed on Zity? That may have been hard, I fear. Given that at least one of them doesn't seem to have an official, clinical name! Yet I can't be unique that way! Years ago, on another site whose name I don't remember, I found several like-minded people. I don't think it was just a follow-the-leader phenomenon (whereby they decided to be nice to me and feigned having the same interest themselves!) - they sounded to have first-hand experience.

Oh dear! I'm feeling ignored. No more sage advice from Webby or anyone. Hmm. I'm 99% sure that I never listed Enemas as one of my interests/preferred topics (whatever such items are called), but I still get hit in the eyes by posts about them whenever I look at recent topics discussed.

Meanwhile, Zity could still be ‘broader’. I am sure about that. Can't it engage some regular ‘columnists’ to expand the possibilities? How about ‘Classic Posts That Have Appeared in Zity’? Such posts could span Zity's entire history. Maybe one a week would suffice, and might generate a few replies themselves of interest.

Complaint, complaint! Re my last (post #24). I signed out of Zity, then returned. On the screen was listed Discussions - but my own post was not there. What gives?

I was going to say ... Something like ‘Classic Posts That Have Appeared in Zity’ would have the added perk of drawing the reader's attention to the whole thread in which it had appeared.

It's relevant because someone has worked to build this site, maintains the site and improves the site at no cost to the members. If you are truly unhappy, start your own site or make suggestions along with how to fix ZITY to your suggestions. If you are not a web designer and computer programmer, then just sit back and enjoy what is here.

And it won't cost you a cent.

@kenneth177 sometimes topics can be given similar tags. Maybe the enema posts you are still seeing are tagged with tags you have kept, they just overlap into some enema topics.
