Toy Reshaping?

Can silicone sex toys be reshaped? If so, how?

I've got a couple of very high quality “fantasy” dildos/plugs that are just a little too big or bumpy and are uncomfortable to use. Can these be carved, pared, or sanded down to remove the excess material? Certainly heat won't soften the silicone. If the material was wood, plastic, or metal then certainly it's do-able. The silicone in question is firm, not supersoft.

My first thought is just to throw these away & buy something more like what I want.

Anyone ever try doing this?

They can be “shaved” down a bit if you have a VERY sharp knife and take thin slices, but this will often leave “nubs” that can poke sensitive areas. Also if you leave a cut into the silicone, it can begin to tear and possible tear apart. So carve carefully. Silicon can also be sanded (best option) if you have a edge sander or belt sander of some sort (high speed) then LIGHTLY touch the sanding belt. Too much pressure and the belt will grab the silicone and yank it out of your hand. Palm sander or hand sanding won't do it. However this takes some time as you have to take very little off at a time.

I 3D print my own molds and cast my own plugs.

Wow that worked! I got a sharp new utility knife blade which sliced away the bigger lumps. It did leave “nubs” like you said, but those were sanded down with my Dremel tool. Final result was quite satisfying, almost as smooth as newly cast.
