@Soapy4me, that is only partially correct. You still have the choice to change your settings in the cloud to prevent your pictures to be 'backed-up' in the cloud. So I have done. The consequence though is, that in case I do have an issue with the phone, and I didn't make a local backup of my pic's, the pictures are lost.
But, then again, I do take a local backup of all the phones on a local disk here (which are 'hot-swappable') and running with 'mirroring' and all my pictures (including the ones of the digital camera's) are also on there. None of those pictures is residing in the cloud.
My digital camera's do have BT and Wifi, but even then you can prevent the transfers to be done to the local network automatically. Yes, it all takes more effort and/or time, but as long as my disks function, I do have all my pictures available at all time.
Lastly, another disadvantage of cloud is that, if you're prevented from accessing the cloud (for one or another reason), you don't have access to your data at all anymore.
And that disadvantage goes for personal data as well as for all existing company data residing in the cloud, including applications ... so, even for business continuity, it is advised to have your data (and applicaitons) available locally or in private cloud.
