I like reading text erotica because you can do it on your phone, out in public, and unless someone is nearby and looking directly on your screen, it doesn't set off any alarms with people. You can't do the same with pictures and videos.Erotic pictures were great back when Tumblr was around. I have not found anything that is really worth regularly visiting since.
When I was young, I liked to read sex manuals, medical books and sex research (The Hite Report, The Joy of Sex, The Naked Ape, Our Bodies Ourselves, Masters & Johnson, to name a few)In some ways, I've come full circle. I haven't looked at porn sites since I found Zity a month ago!
The mind is such a powerful thing that when a story is well-written images that it conjures up are far more lucid than any photos and certainly more so than videos. In the case of the latter, there is too often a smutty element that makes them less than appealing.
Going back to my erotic art comment of around a year back I was sad to read today of the death of the artist Jack Vettriano at the relatively young age of 73. I love his noir ladies of the night type paintings with stiletto heels, stocking tops, bright red lipstick etc. Now I'll really never afford one of his originals. RIP Jack.
@passiverPatient But I think also that the photographed person usually was not asked for agreement during the colonial time. I think nowadays it would be self-evident to ask for permission before taking pictures with persons. I don‘t want to complain it is just my feeling. Of course this old pictures of countries in africa, asia and south america are valuable historic documents. In these old colonial era photos I am referring to, virtually every person is standing still and has taken a pose in which they are directly looking at the camera. Either alone or when in group. They are very certainly aware that they were being photographed. There is no question at all of being secretly, surreptitiously or covertly photographed. It was all very clear that a photo was being taken. One look at any random photo, with subjects clothed, semi of fully nude will confirm that.I don't think that people appreciate how difficult it would have been, in that era, to take secretive photos unnoticed, especially of nude persons. To begin with the photographer would have been taken by a white person surrounded by a native African population. That would immediately make the photographer stand out like a sore thumb, for better or worse. And cameras/film were not suited to high speed light values. Even a walking person would give a blurry result. That is why so many photos of people from this era, from anywhere in the world, are mostly posed photos and therefore also somewhat boring and identical. The subjects being photographed were not doing anything particularly interesting. They were just standing still, either alone or in a group setting in a typically common pose. All of which indicates that the subjects were very well aware they were being photographed.
The mind is such a powerful thing that when a story is well-written images that it conjures up are far more lucid than any photos and certainly more so than videos.Yeah I get more out of it when I am fantasising. But erotica is a close second. The element of imagination really helps me, because I like seeing certain body types/ etc. I do watch porn and look at dirty videos and pictures online, but unless I have an attraction to the content creator, or the type of thing they’re doing… I find it hard to enjoy it as much.
I am very diversified in my interests in erotica. There are so many things out there that interest me but i have very little experience in most of it because it is very hard to find adventurous women out there. Normal sex is great for love but exploring a woman's body is very very interesting and i like so many things. Read my profile and you will see what interests me. If i only had somebody to play with. So i watch porn and find a lot of things that keep my mind busy
@NurseSammy I wish I could recall it better but years back I read an article entitled "blue movies of the mind". Struck a chord with me as I've always found well written erotica to be just as stimulating as the visual kind.
My erotica interest has always been porn, but currently the antique type. These are images taken in the late 1800s and early 1900s where photos were probably taken very secretly. There is a series of photos showing French prostitutes. They all have their legs up in the air to show prospective customers how they are "built".
Ooh I love this question! I really enjoy reading sensual, slow-burn erotica. I’m a bit of a hopeless romantic, so erotica that focuses on the dynamic and intimacy between characters appeals to me more than just regular porn usually does. I also enjoy writing erotica for the same reason. Being able to explore and articulate those feelings in a meaningful way has been tremendously helpful as I’ve grown and explored my own kinks, desires, and sexuality. Erotica photography as well is something I deeply enjoy viewing. I’m just a sucker for the sentimental, artistic side of erotica I guess haha
