Very Long Retention Times

Hello all. This is my first post so please go gentle on me 😃

My boyfriend has been into enemas for years and over the last few years I have been getting more steadily into them and using them to provide a level of torment to his situation. I am his Mistress as well as his girlfriend.

One thing I would really like to do is recreate some enema erotica that he is a fan of. Some of these scenes call for very long retention periods of enemas - up to 14 hours, maybe even longer in some cases.

From what I have read here today I can see some enemas have been held up to the hour mark, maybe a bit longer. I have made him retain enemas up to two hours before but no longer than that.

Does anyone know what the longest duration an enema can be held for safely is? Does the enema solution being used make a difference on safe retention times? I have heard of hypernytraemia and how dangerous that can be so obviously want to avoid this situation.

I do enjoy using ingredients that cause real cramping and I have made him retain enemas over 4 litres before.

Any help, ideas or thoughts you can give me would be really valuable. I don’t want to cause him any damage or put him in danger but would like to give him an experience he won’t forget!

One thing that I have learned along the way is that retaining large enemas for long periods runs the risk of severe hypertension. BE CAREFUL!!! I must also say that in all that time, I have NEVER run into anyone who could hols ANY enema greater that one litre for 14 hours. It is possible to hold that much indefinitely, because the kidneys remove the liquid from the colon.

I'm not a doctor and this is not medical advice! An enema that is "retained" for many hours is going to be absorbed unless it's some solution that makes that impossible. That's what the colon does, remove water from feces. Once the water is absorbed into the bloodstream, the kidneys have to get rid of it. If the recipient has normal kidneys, I imagine removing a few liters of fluid over a few hours is not a big deal, since he or she might have just drunk that much water, but as I said, I'm not a doctor. If the solution is something other than normal saline or plain water, I imagine there might be other concerns, but I don't know what they would be. Hypernatremia is too much salt in the bloodstream. I image that retaining a solution with large amounts (more than 2 tsp per quart) of salt in it could cause that to happen, either by the sodium being absorbed into the bloodstream or by drawing water out of the bloodstream into the colon.

If I wanted to try this, I'd start with a relatively small amount (less than 2 quarts) and a normal saline solution (1.5 to 2 tsp per quart). I wouldn't try it at all if I had kidney disease.

I think both the size of enema you're giving him, and the hold time of an hour, even more!, have great potential to do him significant damage.

I'd encourage you to dial back to two litres at the most and again at most a 10 minute hold.

As I know he is capable of holding up to four litres *comfortably* I am reluctant to dial back on that too much. I’d also love to go for a longer retention time for him but it sounds like I may need to pay some consideration to what goes into the mixture.

Sorry, I didn’t answer your question in my previous post. I use a double balloon nozzle on him too. Very effective. Surprisingly so in fact. I have been amazed at how little leakage there has been, even with some very severe ingredients I have used on him before. I’ve only ever given him one coffee enema before though. Last week as it happens.

During large retained enemas are you talking about developing hypernatremia or actual hypertension (HTN, elevated blood pressure)? How do you know this, was it caused by any particular solution, have you had it yourself, and if so, what levels of HTN are you discussing? In your post for causing severe HTN, what solution, volume and retention times are you referencing to cause it?

I'm 68, enemas for over 50 years and never had my BP taken during or after (didn't see any need) so far.

WRT retentions, my biggest ones have been:

- 5 quarts for 1/2 hours solo

- 4 quarts for 1-1.5 hours solo

~3-4 quarts overnight equaling about 7-8 hours at the direction/insistence of my Domme giving it to me.

- all with tap water or saline all with no complications.

Hi. This is some perfectly friendly advice for you (trying the "go gentle on me" technique you requested), but it is serious advice for you two. Therefore please read it all and send us or me more questions anytime if you like before changing your enema practice on either of you. Another embodiment of HAVE FUN BUT PLAY SAFE.

Just be aware that though true, I was only quoting my own experience after over 50 years of giving myself very gradually increasing enemas. My own recreation recently has been 4 quarts for anywhere from immediate orgasm to 1.5 hours of retention. But after several decades of taking 2-2.5 quarts with very short retention, I gradually increased to the 4 quarts over several weeks, not immediately 2--> 4 quarts in one day. I've also used both tap water and saline extensively with occasional forays into Castile soap and glycerin.

The one single time I gave myself 5 quarts, I had already taken one 4 quart enema a day for several days prior. It was fun and fine with no pain or other complications, but personally I doubt I'll use that much again except perhaps rarely. To me, 3.5-4.5 quarts is too much fun already.

The very infrequent, less than 4-5 times, that I held an overnight enema, it was together with my ex-wife who was acting as my Domme because we were both switches and I loved being submissive for her administering me enemas. Usually in an evening, she'd give me 3-4 quarts and make me hold it for 2-4 hours while we did other sexual things together before she'd let me empty. Also be aware that though I'm elderly at 68, I'm also basically very healthy with no heart, vascular or kidney disease.

So essentially I'm not trying to ruin your fun with your boyfriend, just trying to do our best to keep you both healthy and undamaged. So if you want to push his limits with volumes or retentions, be very gradual about it and know how he reacts to whatever solution your giving him beforehand. SO, MsHannahbelle, what is your limits? Does he return the favors and have you retain your enemas for long times periods? How much volume can you retain?

Always remember that the psychological "mindf*ck" is the most important part, more important than the actual volume or retention time.

One additional consideration: look up "water intoxication." It's a real thing, and something to pay attention to and be prepared for, just in case. Playing safe means knowing all of the risks you are taking.

Good advice on water intoxication (WI), so you should definitely look it up. Even with my longest retentions I've never had it, but it's real so look it up. I'm a retired doctor and during med school we treated a few patients with WI but not from enema use. Only after writing that last long post to you with the enema advice did I notice your post about who your boyfriend is. I can't imagine holding an enema longer than maybe 10 minutes. Part of this might be position, but the other is what was in the enema. Getting up and sitting on the toilet seems to hurry things along and I have found myself curling my toes and pressing my butt cheeks together. Still it will start to leak out and finally after giving in the enema is expelled with considerable force. This is all made more compelling when Ivory soapy was used in the mixture.

No disagreement here, but would you elaborate your thoughts? Are you referring to you giving an enema to a sub or partner of yours? I'm a straight male switch and used to love being sub to my Switch Domme wife while she gave me large, long enemas. Are you being accurate or facetious by saying he can hold 4 liters "comfortably"? I can do this only after working up to it for quite a while, so it's so exciting but pleasant that I often fall asleep. Still, I'm quite distended which I enjoy.

Your DBC obviously works well on him. What sort of severe ingredients have you given him? I have to admit to being a very wimpy enema sub. My bloody colon is much more sensitive than most, so my enjoyment is from large volumes held for long retentions.

People like to take various enema volumes and retain for various times to enjoy the filling, pressure and distention feelings which often then generate sexual arousal. I enjoy all these things.
