His books were good, those he wrote himself. But his writing team and 'sub-contractors' somewhat less. The franchise even less.

These are authors whose books I will buy, blurb unread. All I do is check that the books are ones I don't already have. A few are no longer writing, but I do reread some titles.

Anything by Dean Koontz. I love the way he takes the laws of physics as only a suggestion. I also like his snarky sense of humor.

Being I was one that did not read the tags then even I got it wrong. I have none that are my favorites in the BDSM realm.

First, the heavyweights: Steinbeck, Faulkner, and (because he's local for me) O'Hara

(You could probably read East of Eden a dozen times, and the take-away from each instance would be a little different)

(Janet) Taylor Caldwell -- because a former tenant of a rented room left me a copy of Testimony of Two Men during a rough time in my journey

James Ellroy -- for his brilliant noir work

J A Jance -- for her "cozies" to balance things out

Tom Clancy & W E B Griffin -- because everyone should learn a little about life in the military

Joseph Wambaugh -- because the same applies to peace officers

Dedeaux is Geoffrey Atheling Wagner (1927-2006), an English-born American translator and writer of novels, essays, and criticism. Wagner was a professor at Columbia University.

Famous sci-fi author Robert Silverberg used to write erotica/porn strictly for the money in his younger days. Under pseudos of course. He wrote a short bio on his smut-writing days in a foreword for a book I have somewhere.

I've been a fan of John Sanford ever since his Prey series. A most definite dark side, especially in his earlier books, but with a sense of humor that I just love.

And BTW, Tom Clancy's darkest book was No Remorse. Gave me the hebbie jeebies, whatever those are.
