Expression of sexuality, particularly in unconventional ways (kink) is viewed as taboo basically everywhere. There are a great number of reasons for that, but most have to do with:
1 - control: kink and sexuality in general is empowering to individuals, as they can seek intense and fulfilling experience and gratification with little need for external brokers of traditional power/fulfillment. This threatens many power structures, which respond, often, rather negatively to such threats
2 - fear: People fear what they don't understand - this has been true since man first saw a thunderstorm. Kink is something that, by definition, most will NOT understand; it's a unique experience for us all.
Yet places like this exist so we can share our experiences, and, in so doing, come to understand others and be understood. Or, if not understand them, at least start to realize that there is little to fear in the ideas and thoughts of others, and we can build an appreciation for that. Knowledge and experience tend to do that - after we realize that the thunder in the distance poses little threat, we eventually may even learn to enjoy it's gentle rumbles; after we have seen enough things in our world, we get the liberation of being able to approach newer ideas with a more open mind and a willingness to react not as unconscious, animalistic beings, but rational, capable individuals, and, in so doing, come to experience even more wonders laid before us in the world.
Sadly, while we can influence our own views and our own experiences in this way, we can often do nothing about those around us, and thus, while we ourselves might come to understand and value these more unique ideas, the prevailing fears of others and the systems that seek to exploit those fears to maintain control remain, and thus, we are often prevented by them from being able to openly express these ideas.
That doesn't mean that there aren't others who share these ideas and a willingness for them, it just makes them harder to find. Keep looking. Join places like Zity. Keep exploring, learning, and trying, and I think you will be surprised, in time, how close you might actually be to others like you.
