Restrained in the hospital

I'd like to hear of others who have been restrained in the hospital, in detail-why, how it was done, how did you feel then & now.

I was 18, struck by a motor cycle in a cross walk, suffering a concussion, contusions, cuts on both hands. The doctor mis-diagnosed an infection, and I wound up in bed, in isolation, with both hands heavily bandaged, and elevated by being strapped to the top rails of the bed. Instead of a diaper, the nurses put an external catheter on my penis; unfortunately I rolled around pulling it off. After replacing it the nurse put on ankle restraints. Over the week in the hospital I was alternately released for bath, treatments, just getting up to walk, & strapped down again.

Of course the nurses were kind & compassionate & gave me the best of care. However from the patient's perspective, I was suddenly thrust into a situation where women were in control of every aspect of my life. It felt embarrassing and humiliating to be stripped by women, naked in the ER, and having only a flimsy gown around my neck in bed. I felt embarrassed to be fed, suppository inserted, have an impaction removed, showered by a young aide. At first having the external catheter put on my penis was a shock, but it became a sensual experience, sexualizing.

Being restrained was strangely sensual. In a way it' feels like being held or caressed. The pull on the wrists and ankles -- if not to hard--was not unpleasant. The mental part was feeling submissive to a woman, and liking it. It became an integral part of my medical fetishes. Great for erotic recall and acting out. I still enjoy sleeping restrained.

BRAT

I have been 3 times.

1 was in ICU O went thru several cycles of cascade MOF (multiple organ failure) problem is the more sodt restraints they use so you cant accidentaly pull your own plug , the more pissed off you get but when organs are failing you also,have allmkunds of bad crap in tour bloodstream and you end up "crazier" than a magic 8 Ball ,i started screaming for my wife ( i have no memories of this time ,only heard about from people afterwards ) so they couldnt calm me down ,they couldnt keep me restrained enough and they thought well we will have to knock jim out , they tried anesthetic doses od everything they could think of without success ,they couldnt sedate the other patients enough so that my constant screaming didn't upset them ..if it eases your mind about life support any I have personally tried it all more than once and can say it works!it was that same visit that Jas haunted me for 40 years in the form of PTSD, in that ICU I was having difficulty breathing, nurse kept coming over yelling me to calm down ,your anxious ,I wasn't, when a doctor saw what was happening he acted and saved my life ,my chest was filling with blood crushing my lungs, they had no time for any kind of anesthesia ,yes I passed out problem was regaining consiouness ,since there was no time for anesthesia I wasn't doped up I was paralysed on ventilator ,and let's just say when youmcantbeven blink or breathe on tour own ,you are completely trapped in your head ,no one can here you scream cry or go mad ,the sides of your head are diving boards for your thoughts to commit suicide .when that woman who was scared of CAT scans her doctor ordered a sedative the nurse mistakenly gave her a paralytic so the woman didnt day anything when asked if she was ready so they started scanning she suffocated and died during that test .

2nd time was a car accident

3rd time was just the other night ,I was hit by a truck and dragged about 30 feet ,it decimated my less than two week old 35K dollar wheelchair ,I guess I got my monies worth it was totaled and so was the truck ,I got a few broken ribs and lots and lots of road rash spent my night at the shock trauma center immobilized undergoing more CAT scans than anyone should . You haven't lived until you have been extricated from your wheelchair,probablt what saved me was my "normal" positional restraints on toesmankles,jnees, pelcis,waust and torso kept me in place and the lefy armrest that has my jotsyick on it was bent pushing me further back into the chair and trapping me ,guy was doing 10 over the speed limit when for some reason he drifted onto shoulder gritting me , I just got the accident report today it wasnt his vehicle and hevwas operating on a suspended license , police suspect he tried to keep going as in hit and run but my the 600 pounds of metal and battery kept that from happening, so you might say I have mixed feelings about restraint both good bad and ugly that other people don't have .

Most all my restraints in the hospital work with pneumonia my longest one was after a four wheeler wreck where I broke my ribs and smashed my lungs and I got up and walked out of the ICU twice and passed out down the hallway the second time when they got me back to the bed they put a lap belt and ankle cuffs on me. you can read that story it's on my profile but it was really nice cuz I got bed baths and leg massages every day

In the ER someone, I think a visitor, threatened to hit me. So I went over to him and said “Go ahead”. One of the staff got between me and him to protect me. I think they also had him leave.

Then the nurse said I had to take some pills because of this. I refused and they said it was eather the pills or a shot. So I got mad and acted out because I didn't want to be drugged.

They restrained me and gave me a shot. Very soon after I became very relaxed. I liked being in the restraints. I know there actions where to keep me safe. The shot didn't hurt.

When they finally asked if I was ready to get out of the restraints I said, That's OK. They took my response to mean I wanted to stay in the restraints which is what I meant.

The feel of restraints around my wrists and ankles feels really nice. The loss of control is also a nice feeling. Knowing I can't get out of them. (Well actually I could get out of them. I could reach the Velcro with my teeth and remove it.)

This was the only time I was restrained in the hospital. It was 4 point restraint on the guerny.

I have put myself in restraints in my bed, but I can only secure 3 out of 4 myself. I have even fallen asleep with my restraints on.
