Fetish of the week - 2 (sarmassophilia, a fetish about touching)

Last time our chosen fetish was 'peccatophilia' - 'arousal by sinning'. (One correspondent, to whom I'm grateful, suggested simply calling peccatophiles 'Catholics'!)

This time I've chosen the fetish 'sarmassophilia' - 'arousal from kneading flesh'. Well, once again that's an approximation of what is meant. It's related to 'hyphephilia' - 'arousal by tactile experiences' - 'frotteurism' - 'arousal by rubbing against another person' - and to 'toucheurism' - roughly, 'groping'.

A crowded Tokyo subway was, or is, a favourite habitat for frotteurists and toucherists. Seemingly by accident, they might rub up against an attractive-looking person, especially that person's legs or buttocks! The Japanese even have a term for such people - 'chikan'. According to Japanese government statistics, the number of frotteurist attacks by chikan on women in Tokyo subways - already frequent - increased by 50% in just one year from 1997 to 1998.

But here's another startling statistic. According to Dr Stephen Juan in his book 'The Odd Sex', one study at a small US university found that 35% of its male students 'admitted to having tried touching and rubbing up against women in crowds for sexual purposes'. So what causes frotteurism in men? In his 1986 'Lovemaps' book, Dr John Money of Johns Hopkins University Medical School theorised that in such men something has happened in their early development (where a lot of fetishes start, of course), giving them a misleading 'lovemap' in later life. The so-called lovemap arises from the experiences of 'sexual rehearsal play' in childhood. Prudish or over-strict parents may give their children a twisted perception of normal sexual expression. Stephen Juan reminds us that the sense of touch plays an important part in normal sexual activity. However, every person has their private space which 'you should not violate ... until you've become friends [with that person]'. After that, sarmassophiliacs and others, happy touching!

Speaking of one topic you'd mentioned, "frotteurism", I would mention this. In the Orient, where trains, buses and other transportation is quite often more crowded than in the Occident, the following has happened to me on more than a few occasions. While on the subway in Korea, a person would quite often be right up tight next to others, and it was considered normal, necessary due to the congestion. One doesn't spend time looking into the eyes of your "neighbor" though, but just let the experience pass. On one time in particular, I remember an attractive woman standing next to me, her thigh against my own and the train was bumpity humping along the track, and I started to get hard. She sensed it, didn't look at me, but instead pressed against me more. I rather was liking this from the start, and side-stepped just a bit and put my now turgid plank against her pubis. She pressed it firmer too, and this was getting better by the second. Occasionally, the train would bounce a bit and to this day, I can remember the firm contacts we were making. The train ride was fairly long, and when her stop came, I so wanted to get off with her...literally and figuratively. But, that didn't happen, although I had wondered if I should have just followed her right then. I did sense that she really was getting into the rubbing, as she really could have moved aside at some point. That was my first experience with frotteurism...others did follow.

Your response to this thread is exactly the sort of thing I was hoping to elicit from Zity-ers: namely, proof that there are scores of kinks other than enema- and diaper-related ones! But bless all kinksters, because the mechanism of kinks and fetishes - paraphilias - seems to be a universal one, and it sure unites us here in Zity provided we are prepared to admit that fact: I'd hate to think that there's a snobbery amongst kinksters that causes even us to suppose that some kinks are superior to others!

(Sure, I have joked somewhere on this site that 'My fetish is better than your fetish!' But it was a joke! The only exception I'll allow is where a particular kink harms other people. Are serial-killers kinksters, for example?)
