Didn't use a nozzle as a kid

When I started getting the red bag at 8 my Dad never used a nozzle. He took the nozzle off the hose and would just push the hose in. I remember it hurting because it wasn't rounded off. He usually put about a foot in. Maybe less when I was 8 but I remember getting a full foot quickly. He claimed that it really needed to be in deep to work right. Anyone else get this?

Depending on the material and thickness of the hose it could be firm and sharp enough to tear the anal or rectal lining, even bleeding, and certainly cause the pain that you experienced. With no known reason why pushing it into you that far is of any value to you except to have a little more tubing inside before it completely pulls out since there's no flange, bulge or other feature to keep it inside of you. And if it pulls out, you get to enjoy another episode of pain as it's pushed in again. There's no reason not to use a nozzle, just cruelty.

In fact, most current disposable enema bags ,without retention nozzles for Barium enemas, don't have nozzles at all and just have rounded ends and a side eye. They are virtually the same as a Fr 24 vinyl catheter.

Also, if the water is given up higher, it is more effective in pushing the poo down and out, resulting in a more thorough result.

Good point. I moved up from the average drugstore enema or douche pipe to much thicker nozzles and eventually to Double Balloon Catheters as soon as I could, and now only use either DBCs or fairly thick nozzles to help me retain the solution (and also because they feel very pleasant being put in). I own a thick colon tube of 36" but have not yet been successful in getting it placed far enough in to use regularly. As a result, I've read about how it feels to inject your enema solution higher up than the low rectum but rarely felt it myself. Also, I'm not sure of how far in to place your colon tube or hose to actually make it more comfortable or easier to take in the enema water.

So as a result Sean above makes better points than I did about the advantages of placing your enema nozzle or hose at greater depth than the average nozzle. Thank you, Sean.

It was pretty thick and I remember it requiring a little force to get it in as far as he wanted. It did hurt like hell because it felt sharp. My dad usually held it in place but I remember more than once that it fell out and I had to have it pushed back inside. I had horrible internal hemorrhoids as a kid. Don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Yes I have an actual colon tube now that doesn't hurt and has a rounded end. I love it so much and it is easier to take more water and hold it longer. I wish I had that as a kid.

Oh wow. I don't think I ever bleed from it but I can't remember. Sorry that happened.

My family had one of the plastic buckets with the vinyl hose that had the rounded end and side eye hole. I just figured that was the way it was done, and didn't know about nozzles until much later in life.

My Dad went through his mother hiding the nozzle from him once she caught him using her bag.

This was the 1970s and the dominant type of pen, not only in high school, not just in high school but in most places, was the Bic "Stick" pen with a cap the same color as the ink. and a small "plug" in back also in the color of the ink. They were cheap, Well under a dollar even in the more expensive stores.

It was rigid plastic, and COULD splinter if broken. Still, he DID manage to use a Buck Knife and a Bic Lighter that he had found on the ground to fashion a fully functional enema nozzle out of the shell of a Bic pen. Even got it to fit well! He may still have it. Last time I saw it 5 years ago, and most of what he has thrown away since then he threw away because it no longer worked.

If I recall, the red tubing that came with some 1960's enema bags was plastic like was rather sharp edged. Maybe 1950's tubing was actually rubber and would be softer and more colon tube like. As a teen I would sit on the john and run the tubing from the sink to my anus and shoot water up into me.

That hose was much stiffer and nearly impossible to make a smooth edge. Even then there seemed to be a sharpness there.

My 4-QT bag which I bought online in the late 1990s has a softer more flexible ribbed hose that, though more flexible would be no safer going in with no nozzle, and probably harder to keep in.

@may the lion, I often gave myself enemas as a teenager with "just the hose." I did this because I liked the rapid flow, and the hose was just a bit thicker than a standard nozzle. When I used to make my own equipment, I often just used the hose, heated to melt off the sharp edges, and larger diameter to increase the speed of flow. I found that anything over 5/8 inside diameter" was kind of self defeating, though.

As a teenager giving myself enemas I didn’t use a nozzle, just a length of hose or tubing attached to a funnel. Yes, it was awkward! There was no enema equipment of any kind in the house so I had to improvise, and was lucky to find tubing that would fit the funnel. This was in the 1960s, when we didn’t have the squeezable plastic bottles that are ubiquitous today.

When I was very young, maybe 5 or so, I use to play in our back yard inside an old wash basin. It was made of concrete and raised for drainage. Everyone though I was using it for a make shift swimming pool. I left the drain open and would use a garden hose to play with some water. Sometimes the hose would find another place to spray out of eye sight. Some of my earliest enema memories were created on hot summer days when I was home alone or everyone was doing something else. Sometimes the hose made entry, sometimes not. Later in my 20’s I’d occasionally go outside and use the garden hose for a quick enema. Of course those were usually full entry sometimes after a few non penetration flushes or just a bit of lube. But that is the extent of my garden hose experience and fond memories they are.

Right around that same time Dad (about 9 years old at the time) found a folding fisherman's knife in a field near their house.

About that time the Bic brand "Stick" pen was everywhere. Readily available and cheap.

He managed to take the ink cartridge and point out of one and pop the cap off the back. He then used a lighter to "Weld" the side hole shut and craft a serviceable nozzle that would work with his mother's 1950s era bag. He took many enemas with it.

It still exists, but I have not tried to use it.

In many home medical and nursing books of the 1950s and 1960s, in the directions for giving enemas, use of the standard hard rectal nozzle was specifically discouraged The books explicitly recommended use of a “soft rubber rectal tube” inserted about 6".

If you look at used enema syringes on auction sites, there are sometimes such red rubber colon tubes, usually about Fr 26 to Fr 32 included with the syringes, so obviously some people read the books. Also, it was very common that the white enamel enema cans had hoses, a glass connecting tube, and a red rubber colon tube

I suspect the use of just a hose end was an attempt to emulate the colon tube by some.

If you use just the hose, use some sandpaper to smooth the edges! Less chance of injury!

When I used Mom's bag I would not attach the nozzle. I would push the tube alone into my rectum. I found it easier than shoving the tip plus hose through the anus. I wanted depth. Later, I would use the shower hose this way.

I've tried using an enema hose without the nozzle a few times when I was a teen and young adult. Didn't have any problems. The red hose would slide in easily and it felt comfortable. When I met my first man when I was 18, whenever I engaged in enema play with him, I would find that the black enema nozzle was too short, so I'd insert the nozzle entirely into his anus along with some of the red hose. That way the nozzle and hose would remain inserted deeply without slipping out. Plus I was very turned on by the sight of the hose snaking out of his ass while he was lying on his side with his knees bent up.

If you can obtain a piece of sandpaper, you can smooth off any sharp edges quite easily!

When I was young. I would often use the enema hose alone. I would lube my anus well fold the tip of the hos on itself about an inch and slide it in. After the hose reached the rectum it would unfold. I would get a much stronger stream of water, and the ribbed hose added a very differant and enjoyable feeling over the nozzle. Even today I will often advance the enema or especially the douche nozzle completley in including 6 to 10 inches of hose. Although I no longer have the ribbed hose to enjoy. Most everything is silicone today. When time permits I love the feeling of a large colon tube advancing deep in my colon.

The summer I turned nine, my grandmother gave me my first 3H enema using a 24inch 28 or 30fr colon tube completely inserted in my colon. At eight, about to turn nine, a routine enema for me and my siblings was one quart given with an adult recital nozzle. However, grandma’s 3H enemas consisted of a two-quart soapy followed by a two-quart rinse enema using a colon tube. The next evening at bath time, she had the girls (mom’s two preteen sisters) give me and my siblings a daily 1.5 quart rinse enema for a week using a curved douche nozzle. The girls, on the other hand, each received a 2.5 quart rinse enema for a week using a curved douche nozzle. Having a long colon tube or douche nozzle all the way inside me for the first time felt good, naughty, and weird all rolled together. Especially when grandma pulled the colon tube out, giving me an instant hard-on. And boy, did that ever feel great. As I got older, I realized that the feeling the colon tube gave me being removed, felt a little like a dry orgasm, but only in my rectum.
