Rectal exam as a child?

I had some bowel issues before I was 10 years old that gradually went away. But they sent me to get a barium enema at the children's hospital when I was 7 or 8 years old. The nurse that did the nozzle insertion put on an exam glove and stuck her finger up my butt for a few seconds. It didn't hurt, neither did the nozzle. She didn't insert a balloon tip. The air insufflation into my colon wasn't pleasant at all though.

I was never really sick much as a kid, but I was really nervous and weird about dr visits because I always ended up on my back having my tummy exposed and prodded. I really hated it back then. With that said, I went to Montana on a Ski trip with my mom and dad with two other families. My excitement for the trip had me so pre occupied I just wasn't drinking enough water to deal with the altitude. All I knew was that I was having a very annoying dull ache in my lower abdomen that was killing every bit of excitement I had been running on. My mom and dad noticed I wasn't myself. I ended up being dragged to the ER about 40 min away from where we were staying. So I felt horrible and my trip was being ruined by the one thing that I truly hated. I was inside a ER exam bay being told to take off all my clothing and put on a hospital gown. Im surprised I still can't recall the doctor's name but I do remember the face. After a short wait I was lying there on the Gurney with a doctor around my parents age pushing a stethoscope firmly into my belly on top of the gown. They were all assuming that I was having an appendicitis. So he is talking to my parents while he grabs this sheet from the bottom of the bed and then pushes it up under the gown and covers my privates and at the same time is lifting the gown up on to my chest. Totally exposing my midsection to everyone. He told me that he was going to have to "feel around" in a tone like he was expecting it to be unpleasant for me. I just wanted it to be over. So very Deep palpation began while he was watching my face like a hawk asking me if it hurt. It honestly did not hurt at all. That lasted about 1-2 min and he sounded happy and relieved that he wasn't going to have to cut my appendix out. I was just ready to leave. He left the gown up and my belly exposed and went to the wall next to the gurney and grabbed something. It was a glove! Then he Put his arm under by back and rolled me over on my side with his hand on my hip and said " Deep Breath" and like pulling off a bandaid he was all the way in there. Talk about embarrassing. He tried to make it funny, but I wasn't impressed. " No blood, No Appendicitis , you're just dehydrated little buddy." That was the first and only time I've experienced that. Pumped me up with some Fluids and I was back on the slopes the next morning.

Yes it started when I was 12 my parents wanted me to get the complete exam ..I was always naked on a my knees and elbows

My first like some was because of severe constipation. I ended up in the emergency room. They asked me a bunch of questions, I knew I was constipated they pretty much knew too so they had me undress into a gown and the er dr came in she examined my belly which was bloated and hard, told me she was going to have to give me a rectal exam. She explained what she was going to do and had me roll on my side, bared my ass lifted my cheek and told me to relax, she slid her finger right on in. The next one was actually 3 years later at a gastroenterologist because my normal dr referred me to one because of ongoing constipation issues.

My dad had a good job at a hospital that had great health insurance and 1 free annual exam for the family. The pre school exam had to be done by our regular pediatrician. Both doctors made us boys strip to our birthday suits with mom watching us. The hospital doctor would just look at our bottoms while taking our temperatures but the pediatrician would actually insert his gloved finger and explain why it was so important to have plenty of fiber in our food. Later in life I began to think that he was a perv and begin to hate on him for molesting us. But I now look back on it very differently. I think he was doing what he was trained to do. Almost all the other kids I went to school with and church with all had the same experience from different doctors. My cousins in other towns got the same treatment too. I think he was teaching us how to play doctor with our friends and family. :-)

I can remember having my doctor spread my cheeks more than once to look for I don't know what, but at least her finger stayed outside.

Yes a few times but a big one when I was 11 or so. I found some diet candy my mom had and ate the whole box, then I found some regular candy and ate that whole bag. I got so constipated my mother couldn’t get the enema nozzle in me. So I went to the emergency room in my pajamas and first a nurse pulled my pants down and shoved her finger in with KY jelly and her glove and it hurt real bad. She took me to the bathroom and tried to get me to shit, I still couldn’t. When I got back to the exam room they told me to take my pants off and lie down. The doctor came in and felt up me briefly, and announced I had to be manually decompacted. I had no clue what he meant then two nurses came in with a bucket and rolled me onto my belly and put a pillow under my butt. The doctor lubed his fingers and stuck his whole hand up my butt and wiggled his fingers all around. I tried to get away from his hand but the more I tried the further he went and the nurses pushed me back up towards him. I screamed, it hurt and he pulled the shit out, filled the bucket 3 times. After awhile it softened up and flowed out of me. The nurses gave me several enemas before I went home. I had to go back for follow up and got a rectal exam in his office a few times, but just one finger. He became my regular pediatrician and I still got rectals from him most times I went in for a checkup.
