This has always been my favorite part of an exam. My favorite doctor, a tall, attractive brunette, had a special way of doing abdominal exams. I have checks for an abdominal hernia when I have a full physical. The doctor will press inside my bellybutton a few times, saying in a childish way, "let me know if you feel any pain inside your tummy button as I press". If I haven't shaved my happy trail, I also find it ticklish as he presses.
