Surgical towels

Can anybody recommend good quality towels like you would see in an OR that are NOT sterile and single-pack? Everything I found that isn't sterile-packed seems to be pretty bad quality but the sterile-pack ones can get expensive. I'd like to save them for when I really need a sterile environment for things like sounding, etc.

There is a sign on the wall where my husband gets his garden equipment serviced. It says you can have the work done in one of three ways:

1--good and cheap --- we will work on your job in the order in which it was received and we'll work on it as time permits

2--good and fast --- we'll put your work at the front of the line but you will pay a surcharge

3--fast and cheap --- we don't like to do things that way but if a no-guarantee repair is OK with you, we'll do it

You CANNOT have it good, fast and cheap.

You seem to want good quality, inexpensive, single pack, non-sterile towels "good fast and cheap."

100% true, I agree.

I just meant that getting single-pack towels and disposing of them will add up in cost. For times when I don't need a sterile towel, I would like to have a set on hand for covering instrument trays, etc.

I don't mind paying good money for them, although I like not breaking the bank on towels, there are far more fun things to spend that money on 😃 But if they're good quality, will hold up in the wash, etc. that's worth spending a bit more, I agree. Sorry for the confusion!

So, let me rephrase: Are there good quality medical/surgical towels (not sterile, single-pack) that I can invest in? Everything I've seen has either been too cheap and poor quality, or the sterile single-pack towels. Hoping for a good quality, reusable option 😃

Do you need towels for their absorbancy or as a tray cover to place instruments on?

You can get sterile disposable tray covers in dozens and fifties in various sizes.

Kinks can get expensive when your playing with medical goods.

I'd probably use them for both purposes.

Tray covers, I haven't found in small packs. I've only found them by the case of 500 or 1000, which is why I haven't grabbed them yet. I'll have to look again to try and find smaller packs. If you have a site that you know sells them in smaller quantities, please let me know, I'd appreciate it!

Sterile pack blue OR towels are cheap.. Why not just spend the money and do it right? You won't be spending all that much.

That said, plain white washcloths or hand towels at Wal-Mart work pretty well as tray covers for a medical scene.

Just seemed kind of silly to use a disposable towel if I could get some reusable ones. Best price I've seen so far is about $1 per towel for the sterile towels, which isn't too bad.

I trust you and Susie, so I'll just go with that, seems I'm barking up a silly tree looking for reusable ones ?

Reusable ANYTHING is getting harder and harder to find because hospitals would rather throw out than sterilize.
