As a child, I was given suppositories many times, both paracetamol and glycerin.
I took paracetamol suppositories when I had a high fever. The last time I was given one, I must have been 12 or 13 years old, and I remember my grandmother giving it to me... My stepmother had been letting me take them myself for a while, but she didn't trust me. I remember I had a high fever for a day and it wouldn't go down. My grandmother came into my room, had me get into the knee-chest position, and inserted it. A few months later, I received my last paracetamol suppository from my doctor, too... after a rectal measurement of my fever.
After that, I always took it myself.
With the glycerin suppositories, things were different... they never had a strong effect on me, and they often gave me enemas. I used them (and still use them today) only when I'm unable to do enemas, such as when traveling. So it basically only happened when we were on vacation... The last time they gave them to me was when I was 10, on vacation at the beach. I remember it well because it was the last time we went on vacation together—me, my stepmom, my stepsister, and my dad. After that, I went exclusively to summer camps (I had already attended a few, but the ones for older kids lasted longer), and my stepsister moved away.
It had already been 3-4 days since we left, and we were in the residence room (a bedroom with a double bed for my parents and two singles for me and my stepsister) after a day at the beach. My stepmom gave me the suppository, turning me onto my side on my bed while my stepsister was on her bed reading. She was much older than me (18 ) and had already seen me in similar situations many times.
After that, I took the suppositories on my own, even while I was at summer camp.
