Daily Glycerin Suppository

I am used to my glycerin suppository every day in the evening. My BM is dependent on the suppository and also I find it enjoyable. I have been using a daily glycerin suppositoy for years and the only feeling is my dependence on that. I woul like to hear from other people with similar habits and also hear if they feel any adverse side effect.

How do you know you're dependent? There are authors like Dr Shmueli, Dr Levett and whoever wrote that famous American Society of Gastroenterology study, who have disputed the idea of laxative dependency (reviewing the early 20th century evidence), arguing that in so far as they exist, all laxative addictions are psychosomatic.

So have you ever tried quitting the daily suppository habit - modifying your diet and physical activity, and making the effort to (literally) "do without" them?

Not sure if you can really get dependant or not but I am trying to train my gut to work WHEN I want it to.. so it's more convienent for me and Possibly to avoid some of the side effects of my health issues. Beats taking meds Loaded with side effects daily. Eat something I am not supposed to.. then I do a purge which seems to avoid getting the squirts from whatever may cause them. for me ANYTHING with Whey,casien or red dye 40 is a HUGE no no.

This true squid. Part of the dependence is psicological. When I spend several days without my glycerin suppository I miss something. There are times that I can poop and however if not in a hurry I insert the suppository and wait for 15m enjoying the effect.

My three sisters and I are no strangers to suppositories. We all got them from time to time, although the older two only rarely. Lisa, the third oldest and I both had, and still have frequent bouts of constipation. Although Mom much preferred giving us enemas, if time was too short to give us enemas, she would ease a glycerine suppository into our little poop chutes. I use the plural, because Mom figured if one of us was plugged up, the other either was or would be soon. Until we were around eight or ten, we really hated them. As puberty set in, though, we both realized that we were enjoying our suppositories and enemas. We didn't know the term "anally erotic", but we were both developing into full-blown anal erotics. We started feigning tummy aches to get the "relief" that we craved. Although we both loved (and still love) enemas, we both loved the sensation of Mom's finger poking a suppository deep into us. We both also liked holding our suppository until we were forced to poop. Mom and Dad divorced when we were 13 and 10, respectively, and Mom had to get a job. Cindy, the oldest and Marilyn, next in line, were never interested in their back doors. Lisa and I, on the other hand, were fascinated by anal insertions, and taking laxatives, suppositories, and enemas. In fact, we loved anything which gave us cramps and forced us to poop. Our house had a detached garage, with an apartment above. There was a locked side door with a staircase hidden inside the garage, perfect for private play sessions. With Mom coming home three hours after we got out of school, and working all day Saturday, Lisa and I had ample time to indulge in our shared kink. We spent many a happy afternoon and Saturday naked in that apartment, giving each other suppositories and enemas. Neither of us were into scat, but we enjoyed inserting several suppositories, and standing in the bathtub until we pooped unavoidably. We loved watching each other poop, and expel our enemas standing in the tub. We never played with it, just turned on the shower to wash it down the drain. After we cleaned each other out, we would push bananas or zucchini squash into each other. I can still picture Lisa with a zucchini in her pussy and a banana in her anus.

In the movie "La Baule Les Pins", a mother of two girls has them take a glycerin suppository every evening, to ensure a bowel movement. The girls dislike that, one tries to get out of it by stating she "went" in the morning, but the maid who handles the suppositories to them answers "it's twice a day". The girls end up discarding the suppositories every evening.

I don't get why one would do that to two healthy girls except due to some strange obsession.

I use a suppository nearly every morning. I prefer to go each morning I'm usually good for nearly all day. In my past I had problems with hemmoriods and a fistula due I believe to trying to pass hard stools. I don't really believe in the dependence thing at least with gly suppo or small water enemas. Don't enjoy them sure I do but for me they serve a useful function too

Also in "La Baule Les Pins" the girls discard the suppositories into this little fountain next to the house. One day the caretaker comes in and is screaming at the mother about what he found in the fountain (he takes her outside to show her) and there are dozens of unmelted glycerin suppositories at the bottom...the mother laughs. I don't speak french , so am not sure if she stopped the daily suppositories or if she insisted the maid now insert them personally every evening.

Soapy321: Well, maybe she would understand that it was pointless to give all these suppositories whereas the girls seem to suffer no adverse effect from pretending to use them...

Do you have any references - I couldn't find any related literature about laxative dependency, but I agree that they really aren't necessary. People get hooked on things that don't really make a difference. There are a lot better ways to regulate your bowels than suppositories or laxatives, or even enemas.

Gwhap: Once I bought glycerin suppositories for the kids, and the pharmacist warned me use should be exceptional, not a usual way to solve constipation issues. And yes, it's abnormal for a child to get constipated repeatedly and to need suppositories more than once in a great while.

I read that if you get used to enemas or rectal laxatives, your body stops responding to the normal urge of defecating.

I do either a soapstick or glycerin suppo almost every morning as well as cleaning out at least the lower bowel using the showerhead or, time and privacy permitting, a nice series of 3+ quarts from the bag. I do this because time is limited most mornings and I don't like the feeling of a full/dirty bottom throughout my day. I really loath pooping in a public place especially at work as well. There are times when for whatever reason I have more time at home and no privacy. On those occasions a natural BM occurs just like for normal people. If training yourself to go at a specific time and place by whatever means neccesary is dependency then so be it. I could be dependent on other things that are much worse for my health. Have had this same routine for many years now and I'm doing just fine.

I don't do glycerin suppositories everyday, but several times a week. If my rectum is full (I slide a lubed finger in to feel any poop) then I will use a suppository about half the time. For me, using a suppository does work if my rectum has poop and I am needing to have a BM. I can still have a BM without the use of a suppository but when use one with a full rectum, I seem to easily have a BM and it comes out much easier. Also I feel it is more of a complete BM when using a suppository vs not using one.

As far as becoming dependent on suppositories to have a BM, I have not noticed any dependence. I feel suppositories for me are just a way to mildly stimulate a BM that would otherwise occur. Suppositories I feel are far less invasive than enemas, which can produce a dependence if done too often. That is why I can use suppositories as often as I like and feel no real side effects of dependence.

I think you're not dependent on glycerin suppositories, but rather on the pleasure they can give! The same applies to injections, enemas, rectal temperature ... it is not the treatments that create dependence, but the pleasure it feels to practice them!

This is true, the suppo dependency is more to the pleasure that they cause. Yesterday I felt my rectum partially full after 2 days without going. Though I could easily have pooped naturally I decided to take my ROVI adult glycerin suppository and enjoy the effect for 20m. I did so and enjoyed fighting the suppository cramps.

Logically speaking glycerin suppository is not at all highly effective in terms of bowels movement, sometimes it help a lot of poo and sometimes it doesn't. The abdominal cramp is the only thing that is enjoyable, again when it becomes daily practice the cramp feeling also starts fading out.

I admit I haven't seen the movie or even know the plot, but unless it is a biography, the only reason to do it - to healthy or unhealthy boys or girls - might be that it is in the script, to titillate an audience. If the flick is a biography, then it just might be a parental obsession, but probably not 'strange' considering the number of stories of childhood enemas, castor oil dosings, etc. told by a lot of folks here and around the 'net.

The movie is at least partially autobiographical for the director, Diane Kurys. It however would have been very awkward to ask her if the suppositories were autobiographical…
