Dental chairs in the 60s, 70s, 80s

Are there others, who finds the dental offices from earlier days fascinating?

I really love the big chair from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Especially, I love to see women lying helpless in that chairs, the footrest highly raised - a position, where you are completely delivered to the denist.

A great practice these days: the assistant brings the chair in position, so the patient will see the dentist in the lying position. These days there were no discussion of the treatment with the dentist, the patient had to sit still and obey.

Hi there. I do too! I feel like they were much more intimidating and scary. I love picturing men or women sitting or lying on the chairs while the dentist (probably not wearing gloves) works endlessly on them.

The old chairs make me feel like the procedures were a lot more painful than now and in the new modern offices, which is a turn on for me.

I really like the older ones where the patient sits more upright and the dentist performs their work while standing. There's just something really intimidating about them.

I really enjoy it when you find those offices where everything is a blast from the past. I had a dentist briefly years ago that was working out of an office where all the equipment (and decor) was from the 70's. Everything was functional so she saw no need to replace it. There only exception was the handpieces, she had the loudest air turbines. Her operatory was the furthest back in the office from the waiting room and you could hear her drills going from anywhere. The only reason I left her was because she dropped my insurance.

The vintage chairs evoke quite a reaction. I love anything from 1900-1970s but the old 1800s and beyond look quite interesting.

The idea of being laid back and the work just starting as the doctor comes in, possibly already have a device thats cranking the mouth open. In my fantasies there would certainly be restraints.

Absolutely, I have a fantasy of being a dentist's wife, in even earlier years (maybe 1930s or 40s) where he would drill me in a sitting position with a slow drill for hours and then place large amalgam fillings in my molars. Of course, no anesthetic, and me sitting still, with no questioning of his authority.

The older style, 40s and 50s especially are definitely more intimidating, but lose some of the clinical, sterile feel that more modern ones have IMO.
