(Q1).How many other people like myself wear diapers at work and has it had a positive or negative effect on your prospects of holding down a job paid or otherwise?"
I've worn at one time or another in almost every job I've ever had, and I've had many. In order:
plant nursery (moved) cashier, landscaper, call center, (moved) dishwasher, (moved) deckhand, dispatcher, IT technician, (moved) cashier, handyman, construction worker, retail store housekeeper, retail store maintenance technician, retail store maintenance manager, construction superintendent, and most recently, a construction project manager. (moved) indicates a significant (another state) move.
I'll write another post about back injuries and associated diaper wearing tendencies..
nowadays, I get to work from either my home office or out visiting job sites or potential jobs quite a lot, though I go to the office and work anywhere from 1-4 days a week, depending on the workload and a lot of other variables.
when at the office - I typically wear a depends with a single sz5 or 6 baby diaper stuffer. This will generally last me the better part of the workday, if not the entire workday, without issue.
On days I'm working from home or am 100% sure of minimal or no interaction with others, I might be a bit more padded.
Although I don't require them and am not "incontinent" per se, I do have days where I feel less confident. I find I'm much more productive when not having to worry about restroom breaks, and I do a lot of driving around in heavy traffic, so stopping and finding a restroom is often inconvenient, if not darn near impossible.
(Q2). How has this affected your working situation or day to day life has it improved or hindered your levels of personal dignity?"
It works quite well at absorbing the sound and odor of the occasional fart, though it's always a concern/cause for awareness for many reasons. I'm constantly checking to make sure my undershirt is tucked in and my outer shirt is not, to provide a more diffused body contour if nothing else (I'm pretty thin - 5'10, 135lbs). I'll generally ensure I'm wearing jeans that are a little larger/baggier as well. I'll typically wear some tight-fitting panties to keep the diaper snug and silent, then undershirt tucked into boxer briefs, and pants snugly belted just below the hips so the crotch is baggy and not snug/revealing. It has more of an impact on recreation and fun than anything else - I'm much less likely to participate in anything very active, or in hot weather, as I'm not very inclined to want to remove layers of clothing or have a waistband peek out...
(Q3). Have you found it difficult or easier to tell your friends or co-workers and family about your situation and has it caused you to lose sleep at night or has it helped you come to terms with a disability or illness."
what do you mean tell co-workers! I would be embarrassed to say anything. I do try and be discreet about wearing when I will be around others, and I've hoped that nobody has noticed, or if they have, they haven't said anything... most of my co-workers are aware of my back injuries and such though, so they would likely assume medical issues...
I typically sleep much better when padded.
