I expect most nurses or aids were very professional back in the day when hospitals routinely gave enemas, but there are always exceptions.
A friend who became a nurse in one of the enema clinics, Grand Dames, would talk about how she and a friend worked in a hospital and loved to give enemas, and could spot those who enjoyed them. They would often try to be in the room together, and would make the experience as pleasurable as possible without revealing themselves.
She said there were a couple of times when they had patients where there was no order to give an enema, but they did anyway. Something I doubt they could get away with today. In each case it was fun for them to observe the patient, and both young adult males and females had been on the receiving end of the unauthorized enemas.
In St Luke's Hospital in Newburgh, New York in 1973 I had a minor procedure that would be out patient today. The night before I was given an enema by a nononsence nurse, of course I enjoyed it, but to her it was just another enema.
It was a three day stay, and by the end of day two I had not had much success in having a BM. In hopes of getting another enema I told the nurse. It could be I held back a little..
Next morning I was given a mild laxative, and was told if it didn't work I would be given an enema that evening. It did work, not very well, I might have been holdimg back a little. Shift change, the nurse comes by to ask how I have done, I report the laxative was not effective, and she says that I would be given an enema. That's fine with me, and I probably had that "I'm looking forward to it" look on my face.
During visitors hours, with several friends in the room she comes back and announces to everybody that I will be getting an enema. That got some raise eyebrows, and one girl, the friend of a friend made a comment she could go for that. Because my wife was in the room I made no comment, but often wished I'd followed up.
So visitors hours are over, and I am waiting in anticipation for quite a while, and it is getting close to shift change so I expect Miss no nonsense will be giving me the enema.
Then I am pleased when the nurse comes back, and says, you are my last patient, I've been saving the best for last. She's on to me I'm sure, and does everything to make the enema pleasurable without crossing lines. Slow, gentle, modulating the height of the bucket for optimum flow, not holding it high to get it over with as quickly as possible. Lots of encouragement. Once the bucket is empty, only 1500cc, she wants me to hold it, and does some gut massage as close to my privates as possible without crossing any lines.
She tells me I can go and helps me to the toilet, the joys of a private room.
Then she stays with me until I'm done, inspects the results and says I should be fine now. As I get back into bed she said, "you really enjoyed that, didn't you." I told her I loved enemas, and she said she liked giving them (To people that enjoy them was implied, but never spoken).
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Many years later I would go to a colon therapist near Palm Springs, CA. I had searched for and found a therapist that would give enemas. She was nearly as good as Mildred Burgess, had been a nurse, loved to give enemas and was very proud of her skills, as with Mildred, no lines were crossed, but those were some awesome enemas by a woman who loved to give them.
