Celebrities and rectal temps.

Has anyone ever heard of celebrities who take their temp. rectally ? I wouldn't doubt that information exists on that somewhere.

Penelope Cruz once said that her mother took rectal temps when she was growing up in Spain.

My celebrities of rectal temperatures was when they ended at the end of age 4. Feeling glad that I did not have to drop my pants and over my mom's lap.

When I grew up, rectal temperatures were commonly used in France for adults and children (once the child was old enough, the temperature was self-taken) and were compulsory in hospital. So you can count on many French (or neighbouring countries I guess) celebrities over 40 using rectal, from the habit of their youth.

Russian actress Glafira Tarkhanova once took her rectal temperature right in a movie! A video of this scene was already available on Zity. Apparently, there was even a dedicated thread about it. Tarkhanova isn't just a mainstream (not porn!) actress; she's also an extremely modest and conservative woman (you won't even find a photo of her in a bikini or an above-the-knee skirt online), so when she decided to film this scene, it shocked all her fans.

@ruthiney Not surprised in the least. She's a bit older than me and back then in France (I suspect France and Spain are fairly similar in this respect) many adults took their own temperature rectally and required likewise of their children.

The context is this: Tarkhanova plays the somewhat flighty wife of a wealthy businessman, desperate to have his child to strengthen their relationship. So, she's shown taking her basal temperature in bed in the morning to determine when she'll ovulate and when they can conceive. The dialogue in this particular scene is about her husband being very upset that she's sticking a thermometer up her bottom in their bed and asking her to do it in the bathroom. In response, she looks at the thermometer and tells him she's already ovulated, suggesting they have sex immediately. A heated argument ensues, which is no longer particularly relevant to the topic at hand.

@Suppoforfun Interesting how one really sees her buttocks. And given the gesture she makes, she probably really had the thermometer in her bottom.

@Jacana Incidentally, Tarkhanova recently gave birth to her sixth (!) child. This fact, and the fact that she agreed to film this scene, suggests she's may be familiar with rectal temperature monitoring for ovulation in real life.

I really love this scene. It appears the thermometer is really inserted from the depth of the thermometer.

In an interview, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) said her mother took her RT when she was a kid.

Howard Stern claims his mother took his temp rectally until age 13 but she denies it.

British comedienne Emma Kennedy wrote a book about camping and recounted a public rectal temperature taking at a French campground when she was 13.

There was a stand-up comedienne whose last name was Randolph (don't remember the first name). She claims to have succumbed to hypothermia while working at an Alaskan cannery. She woke up with her pants pulled down and a thermometer up her butt with a group of "hunky" men watching.

Ya, I once started a thread about RT taking in various religious groups but an overzealous mod deleted it. Apparently, we aren't supposed to discuss religion.

@DoctorJohnny2 This is not about religion but about culture, in the same way that 40 years ago rectal temperature was more common in France than in the US.

Celebrities pride themselves on being unique and creative, so I wouldn’t doubt that some of them have adventurous sex lives, that would include rectal temperature taking, and other pleasures.

@DoctorJohnny2 I didn't mean to imply that she never wears a bikini (including thong panties). She's perfectly capable of wearing them when she's on vacation alone or with her husband. By conservative, I only meant that she never posts photos of herself in a bikini or revealing outfits on her social media, as many other modern celebrities do. And there are almost no paparazzi photographers in Russia who could take a picture of her in a bikini without her noticing, anyway.

Why the general public is so fascinated by celebrities, do most people even realize that there are so many people who don’t have fame and fortune, but a much better character, natural beauty, without the baggage, or bodyguards?

@JJM I doubt that there is anyone on this site who is less a Celebrate worshipper than me. With that said if I wrote of Betty Jane down the street or a college sorority sister-- which I have -- you don't have a visual image of them but with Natalie wood you should. I thought the people of this thread would fine my post interest. My assumption proved to be correct as one poster is looking for the book.

@JJM No problem. The main difference between writing of celebrities vs. neighbors or school friends is the visual images portrayed when telling a story. I would love to post pictures of the friends that I write about to improve my story telling but I respect their privacy. Even the one who have passed away.

Somewhat slightly off track but has to do with celebrities; Ed Mc Mahon and Johnny Carson doing the popular skit as “ Carnac”. After opening one of the envelopes and reads the question, of course the audience laughs, and Carson quips “ This audience would laugh at Dinah Shore backing into a meat thermometer!”
