Not how, but why? (big toys)

This morning I got up, put the coffee on, and opened my toy drawer to select something to go up my ass. I chose a bullet shaped plug, about 3 " dia. At 3" I'm not going to need to warm up, and spend a lot of time, considering that when it's in I'm just going to be answering emails, and read Zity. There's not a lot sexual going on here. Still- Three inches is going to hurt a bit going in, and I'll probably say 'fuck' more than once, and question my own sanity.

Why the hell do we (those who enjoy huge toys) do this? Plugs, and dildos, sure I get it. Lots of fun. Even some outstanding orgasms. Then we get the next size up, and the next size up... The next thing you know, it's the size of a forearm, or bigger

On days I want to put in my 4" plug, there is absolutely nothing sexual going on. It's going to hurt, it's going to take a lot of time, I'll end up with lube all over everywhere, and at that size, I'll probably remove it very shortly after getting it in. Why? It's not going to make me come.

While typing this I've gotten bored of the 3" in my bum. I'll go switch it for something bigger. Maybe it WILL be a day for 4", or even try that bigger one that still scares the bejeezus out of me.

BTW, I don't like a plug with a thinner neck. Once I'm at the maximum dia. I like to stay there.

I've wondered the same thing, and I think it's because the pleasure is basically in the pressure and bigger makes more, which means were just greedy.

Here's my theory, ButtWoman. I think we go bigger and bigger because it's all about the mind fuck--the surreal, almost out of body experience that happens when we do new, even more extreme things to our bodies.

You get a new toy, bigger or longer than anything you've inserted before. It seems impossible at first. You progress slowly with the toy over a period of hours, or days, or even weeks. Finally, it's completely inside you! You realize in an instant that something very extreme and totally new has just happened to your body, and the thing inside you feels and maybe looks so impossibly large that your mind has a hard time accepting what's happening to you. Momentarily you question whether the experience is dream or reality. It's absolutely surreal. For a brief time you feel an intense mixture of confusion, uncertainty, fear, pain, pleasure, astonishment, and triumph, (and maybe an orgasm, which is almost as good.) That's the mind fuck.

When you wake up the next day, the first thing you do is look at the big toy, hold it, and think about what you did with it. Again you have momentary doubts about whether you really did get the toy into yourself, or you just dreamed that did. You have to try it again. The mind fuck is almost as good the second time. For a while you can't get enough of the new toy, but then the mind fuck begins to fade, and the toy eventually becomes ordinary.

You want to experience the mind fuck again, so you move on to the next, even more extreme toy.

close enough for me... Yes, the thrill, the expectation, the sensations... In time, to get the same sensations I need a bigger toy... To stretch me, to fill me up, to feel the rectum and anus stretch when moving or walking, or feel my insides move when that biggest dildo is getting into you from the side... It is a mind thing, but physical, too.... since you get used to big toys, you need even bigger ones, simple enough.

I never thought I'll be able to fit toys of the size I can take comfortably now. Not a size queen yet, but I try to keep at the current max size for as long as it gives me thrills, try to slow down the progress since it's getting difficult (and expensive) to find new nad bigger toys. Wild Bill- Well put. You're right on the surrealism. The first time a fist pops past the knuckles, and is in your rectum is an indescribable feeling I've often explained as out-of-body.

Getting back to the why of it, ButtWoman's original question, I'm still wondering. Why do we do extreme things to our bodies? Is it just a lust for pleasure? No, it can't be just that because so much pain is involved. For example, one of my things now is to get a 60" x 1.75" colon tube all the way in. I only try it every week or two, but I keep being drawn back to it even though it's always a little painful, and it's 90% frustration and 10% pleasure. ButtWoman, you continue to be drawn back to that 4" plug of yours. You know it's going to hurt so bad you can't keep it in long, and the pain will be too strong to feel the pleasure. There will probably be no orgasms for you next time, maybe never. Nonetheless, you can't resist doing it again and again. Why?

Here's my modified theory. These extreme things we do to our bodies put us into an altered state of consciousness. I think we all agree on that. Most of my kinks do that at some level. BDSM is all about the altered state of consciousness, (known as 'flying'.) We want that altered state of consciousness as much or more than we want pleasure. It's like a drug. (Does that make those little butt plug starter kits a gateway drug?) Sorry, here's my point. Ideally we want the altered state of consciousness with simultaneous pleasure and minimal pain, but if we have to go through a lot of pain to get there, we do. What do we call this? OCD with masochism maybe? Whatever it is, should we stop? Nah.

Once again Wild Bill, on the nail. During the more extreme kinks we enter the other conciousness. That's why it was so shocking the other day when my Ex came to the door while I had a plug the size of a fire hydrant in. Her arrival jerked me back to the real world. Suddenly, standing there among the mere mortals with this huge thing in my ass seemed silly, and pointless.(and painful).

After she left, I could not get back into 'the zone', and got dressed and went out. In my super limited experience with being flogged, I was amazed how fast the real world went away, sound stopped, and the light dimmed.

Interesting perspective on this, and I am aware of this concept in the BDSM scene, 'subspace' I think they call it.

Personally, I'm into exploring pleasure and am a firm believer in the concept that pain in the anal-colorectal region is my body telling me to stop doing something. Discomfort on the other hand is different than pain and may be tolerable if the reward makes it worth enduring.

@radio, you have a point about pain being a warning to stop. There always seems to be at least a little pain when going from one extreme insertion to the next, or as @afternine says, repeating a big insertion like fisting. The pain is transient usually, and quickly pleasure overwhelms it. Except for BDSM, the pain is not the objective, just an obstacle. The objective is the altered state hopefully enhanced by pleasure, not hindered by pain.

Even for BDSM pain, the objecive is pleasure, not pain. Pain is merely the vehicle. If inflicted in the right way, (gradually increasing pain level during sex for me), the pain releases endorphins that make fairly intense pain feel like intense pleasure with low-level background pain. I can experience the same kind of thing if I push myself to the max for 90 minutes at the gym or on my bicycle.

For big insertions, the risk is reduced by going slow and having a lot of experience in what pain levels are associated with actual injury--like a temporary injury to the anus. Big insertions do have a risk of permanent injury, and it's a personal decision whether to take that risk or not.

Clearly this starter kits are the gateway. Subsequently however I stay small. I do it because I am lonely and it feels good. But the necessary clean out to get a good session get tedious...so questioning self about it and its secrecy.. I mean how in the hell does one get lucky enough to find a significant

other to do these things with, what did you all meet in a big city sex dungeon or some where, or in adult films.

You are right, the post I did yesterday is basically the same discussion here. @wildbill, I think you did an outstanding job at describing what it is that I go through with my sessions. One of the things I notice when I am finally able to get something quite large in me is that I lay back, eyes half openen and simply drift. It is a very interesting set of emotions: fear, excitement, anxiousness, ets., and when you described it as an alter state of mine... nail on the head!

I guess my concern/worrie is that, I don't want to take it to the extreme, and I keep telling myself that I will work to the 3" if possible (I think it is) and this will be my limit; but will it be? Hi @Buttwoman, this is a lovely post and VERY recognizable (even the morning routine: coffee and then plugging, then doing some e-mail etc haha).

I often find myself searching online shops for new plug models / brands to see if there's new shapes and sizes to grow my collection... not only for bigger, also sizes in between for good stretching sessions. However, the quest for bigger is always there as I always eagerly look at the bigger sizes and make plans to buy new (bigger) ones...

I remember buying a plug online that once arrived didn't fit as it was too big... I patiently kept trying, and finally I succeeded... it was such an intense experience. Now I can make a 'cold start' at 2" without any problems and go up to 3,5". I still have that WOW sensation when I get a bigger one up my butt.

As I've said in other posts, I love my plugs to not be too long so I can sit on them (and have my ass get used to the thickness of the plug) I totally agree on your last remark, best toys are the ones that don't have a narrow neck as I too want a toy mainly for it's stretching purpose. However, wider toys to sit on, not too long and not with a narrow neck can be hard to find... I like cone shaped plugs best, while I do have some 'bed knob' models as well.

As for the pain... Going bigger always gives a little pain... however, when you are experienced (I have been plugging for over 20 years now, exploring bigger sizes for about 6 or 7 years now) you know which pain is 'good' (and soon transitions to pleasure) and which pain isn't and when it is a clear warning sign to stop.

Great topic and one I've pondered myself too. I ageee and can relate to all others that have replied but I'll also add that I've noted to myself that perhaps one dimension to the answer is simply "because we can". Like many pastimes or passions we have an inbuilt desire to always improve. To do bettter. Faster. Longer. Runners, for example, always pushing for a new personal best be it over 100 meters or 26.2 miles.

IMHO the same part of the psyche drives those of us who enjoy things up their arse in the same way. Another 1/4 inch diameter. Another inch or two in length. We share the same euphoria in achieving a new "PB" as those with more, um, traditional outlets.
