Having found and tried the new PUL Polyurethane plastic pants I would not now buy any other type as they have a lot to recommend them.
Very long lasting, some of mine are well over a year old having been used on every other day and washed the same. They offer extremely good value for the money.
They are not affected by chemicals such as Vaseline or Sudocream and anti nappy rash creams.
They are very much like the old Rubber pants a lot of us had when we were babies/ young children. They tend to be cool on the skin & they are not easily punctured or tear. They are just so soft and silky.
Easily machine washed although I do not put them in the machine and prefer to hand wash with soap.
On the down side:-
Over prolonged use they do stretch, one of my oldest pants (must be at least 2 years old) has now stretched from an "X" to an "XL"
It seems the real death of them is that the elastic's tend to stretch so much as to become useless.
I did have one pair that were badly sewn and the plastic ripped all across one side destroying the pants completely?
The maths are simple, standard plastic pants at £6.25 each will last about one month before the waist cracks and becomes uncomfortable to wear.
PUL costs around £17.00 each, but usually last over a year.
I always wear a disposable with stretch pants over the top and all covered with a really comfortable PUL pant, they have not let me down yet ?
And yes I have a serious stash of them, but on a positive note will probably not need to buy any more for the next 10 years.
