A sports exam to remember!

Chapter 3

The next morning, Brandon awoke a few minutes sooner than usual. He phoned his old pediatrician’s office. The receptionist answered and Brandon explained his situation. “Brandon, it’s been over 5 years since you’ve been in the office. You would have to schedule an appointment with Dr. Johns before he could sign your papers.” Brandon asked for the next available appointment. “The next available appointment would be 5 weeks from now, March 8th”. Brandon didn’t have that much time; the first practice was next week, and he had to have the form in before that if he wanted to play.

Slightly annoyed, Brandon headed to his first morning class. At his break between classes, after grabbing lunch, Brandon stopped by the university Student Health Center. As he entered the door, he was met by a very attractive receptionist. “She must be a student worker”, Brandon thought to himself. Brandon greeted her and explained that he needed a medical release for the baseball team. The receptionist informed him, “The clinic has a very limited schedule for sports exams and such. Most of our days are filled with sick visits. The next available time slot is next Friday at 3 PM.” Brandon thought he better take that appointment even though practice started on Monday, and he was supposed to have the form turned in before then.

Brandon went to his afternoon classes and returned to his dorm room. He looked at the medical release form on his desk and remembered that there was a listing of medical offices attached to the back that he could go to to get his clearance. He started calling, from the top of the list, each office that he called gave him a similar answer: They didn’t have openings for new patients for several weeks. Brandon made it through to the very last name on the list, “Dr. Samuel Chen, MD”. He dialed the number and after several rings, a very sweet-sounding lady answered the phone. Brandon explained his situation and the receptionist replied they had a cancellation for the last appointment of the day if he could make it to the office by 5:30 today. Brandon quickly searched where the office was. He would have just enough time to shower and get there right on time. Brandon told the receptionist that he would be there and hung up.

Brandon showered quickly, thought about what he should wear, something loose and easy to move around in just in case the doctor wanted him to do any exercises like his pediatrician did at his sports physicals previously. He grabbed a pair of black jogging pants, and a T-shirt. He opened his sock drawer, grabbed a pair out and noticed that he only had one pair of underwear left in his drawer; his white Calvin Klein briefs that were a little snug. Usually, a boxer brief guy because he found them comfortable and loose, with a couple of pairs of loose boxers, these, his only pair of briefs, he saved for last resort, but he didn’t have much of a choice right now. He grabbed them and struggled slightly to slide them on. “A little tighter than I thought they were”, Brandon thought. He quickly finished getting dressed and headed out.
