Kim at the Doc

The Day Prior (Kim)

If I was like most of the girls chatting at lunch with their best buds, we’d get together and go to the mall up the road from the school and shop for “something to wear” to our appointment. PUHLEEEZ! If it’s any kind of decent appointment where you get checked, it’s gonna come OFF! Why waste good money on something MAYBE the nurse is gonna see? Or nurse and doctor, if the office is one that actually believes in MODESTY.

Me? I jumped on my bike (I ride a scooter. In winter, when I’m bundled up you should see the looks I get when I pull my helmet off and the long hair falls out.) and shopped for some new panties, because I needed them, not because I have an upcoming physical. Tony and I often go together. He’s awesome to shop with. He doesn’t mind just window shopping, or waiting while I dash in to ask about something. And yes, we’ve even been shopping while we got ourselves (ahem) intimate apparel, LOL. But I wanted to go solo today, because I wanted to get something to wear that he hasn’t seen before. I threw the package into my backpack, slipped my arms through the straps, jumped on, kicked off and headed in!

I pulled the bike under the left edge of the carport, so they would have enough room to get the truck in. Bo, our “watchdog” had heard the bike, and was coming down the hall, full tilt, to greet me. I smelt something, and knew Abe or Jake was trying to start dinner early. I passed by the kitchen, and sure enough, Abe was at the stove, and it didn’t look TOO bad. I passed by, went in to change, and emerged, looking more like myself, wearing a loose tank top and jeans,

We start fixing dinner, and after we had eaten, the phone rings, and I smile as I see his face pop up on my caller ID.

We chat for a few minutes, and confirm plans for tomorrow. Luckily there’s an “in service day” where the teachers have to go and learn new ways to torture us.

I’m just a little anxious. I’ve heard all of the stories about how humiliating, degrading, totally off the chart embarrassing it is. We’ll just see.

And, to top it off, I’ve got my best friend with me!
