I finally worked up the courage to meet my play doc that I’ve been talking to for a few years. We agreed that the exam would take place in a hotel room. He agreed to pay for the room since he was planning to stay the night.

On the day of, I drove to the Starbucks, which was conveniently located across the street from the hotel. I wanted to meet in person and talk just in case either one of us felt uncomfortable. In addition, we planned to conduct our pre-exam questions/answer session and the allowable procedures discussions before the actual exam.

i arrived at 12:50 and ordered a drink. Dr. Joe (name changed to protect his privacy) entered at 12:55. We shook hands and sat at the table. I think we were both a little nervous, at least I know I was. This would be the first time having an exam done by Joe. I had so many questions running through my head. Would he be gentle? Would I enjoy it?

After a few minutes of small talk, Joe asked if we should proceed to the pre-exam questions. I agreed! We discussed my medical history and what I was hoping to achieve. I wanted a realistic well-woman full physical, complete with pelvic exam and a thorough breast exam. I’m a larger chested woman and wanted to be sure things were looked at with great care! Joe went through his very thorough checklist of procedures. Since this was our first meeting, we were going to keep the exam very clinical.

After about 20 minutes, Joe asked me if I wanted to proceed. I must say that I appreciated his degree of concern and care throughout the entire process.

I agreed to move forward. So, we left Starbucks and traveled to the hotel. Once we arrived, I gave Joe my little black bag which contained my personal speculum, lubrication, gloves, and a gown. Yes I provided these things (due to skin sensitivity). He headed up to the room (204) as he needed a few minutes to finish setting up his portable exam table with knee crutches and stirrups and the rest of his supplies.

I waited about ten minutes (following doctors orders) before heading upstairs. I knocked on the door twice. Dr. Joe opened it wearing his lab coat.

”Come in, PJ, it’s nice to meet you.”
