Cathrin/Carolin
Note: I was reluctant to translate this story, because I only wrote Carolin’s part myself and have been struggling with a writer’s block for months on end now. Cathrin’s story was written/posted by Bev1, but the scenario he set up has been inspiring for me, even though I saw a lot of missed potential. So instead of copying the basic premise, I chose to adapt it and translate it here with some slight adjustments.
In Germany, there exist a whole set of examinations recommended – but not mandatory – for young adults, usually performed by a pediatrician or general practitioner. Cathrin’s part is a first person account of such an examination. She was accompanied by her mother and her sister Carolin, neither of the girls knowing what was in store for them both.
My angle for Carolin’s story was that Cathrin was probably too caught up in the aftermath of her examination to truly observe her sister’s exam – and that she did not share every last detail out of shame.
