Is it Nearly March Already?
I'm ashamed that I have been so lax in doing anything with my Blog for so long.
It just seems yesterday that I was writing about the new Year's Eve party.
What has happened since then? Lots.
As most would realise there were terrible floods in Queensland in early January with substantial loss of life then a Cyclone in Northern Queensland made matters worse for us in Australia.
Hubby got shipped up to the Brisbane - Ipswich area to repair telecommunications systems that were damaged by the flooding and then I had to go up to the Lockyer valley with a camera crew for one of the networks to gather "on the spot" interviews and pictures mainly for news.
In that area pretty much all the communications were down so no internet which gives me internet withdrawal symptoms.
Chat is a habit thats something I have trouble doing without.
Well after a couple of weeks up there I was nearly going mad until I got back home and connected again.
What I had forgotten was that we had arranged a shoot in Indonesia following up on the tsunami damage up there and how it was affecting the people there now after 7 years.
In that Tsunami 150,000 were killed and 500,000 displaced in Indonesia and the earthquake that caused it remains as the biggest and longest ever recorded. (9.3 on the Richter Scale and lasted for 10 minutes)
So I was again in the land of no internet for another 2 weeks and was fairly screaming for a chat with some friends when I got back on last Friday night.
It came as a sobering shock to hear about the Christchurch disaster in New Zealand while I was away as I didn't hear about it initially as we were pretty much out of touch with the world news. What was really scary was the realisation that why we were there in Aceh was as a follow up to the Tsunami there prompted by the Christchurch earthquake of last September. Little did we know that there would be another in Christchurch.
My heart goes out for the poor people in Christchurch as they now have a totally destroyed city and some of the casualties especially in the Canterbury TV building which suffered the worst damage in the city.
I do not know yet if any of my friends and workers in the industry working at CTV are safe or not.
Hubby and I are making the most of this weekend as he goes away for a week or two next week.
We had to go to a family birthday party today so were away all afternoor and when we got home there was a trail of clothes from the front door to the playroom and I've just emerged for a break to write this before we retire to the bedroom.
I will have to be more regular with updates in future
Hugs
Jan

Welcome back, Jan! - wondered why we hadn't seen you around. I knew you were away but had no idea that it was for such a long spell
