Well summer has arrived and with a vengeance, the days are now in the 90’s, no rain and it is only June. This type of weather is normally in late July and August, the creek is flowing very slow and will probably cease in another week or so, the ducks are long gone. Gardens are doing well just hate to see what our water bill will be, told my husband those might be some very expensive tomatoes.
I am not longer playing golf for the time being as long as it is this hot. We played recently with a 10 AM tee time, by the time we putted out on 18 it was 92 degrees and I was about to lose my stomach. Made it to the pro shop, got some Gatorade, soaked my towel in cold water, put it around my neck and just sat there. I was that bad and he got scared for me.
I am very happy to say things are going better for my dad these days. He has been very depressed as he has lost 4 very close friends the last 2 ½ years, they were his hot rod buddy’s, done lunch together, car shows and always working on something. It has been very hard on him. About 6 weeks ago he ran into a guy that he had once been in the Corvette club with, they got to talking, he mentioned he had started project but was way over his head, wanna see what you think? Well Dad is back under the hood turning wrenches and last I saw they were tearing down a motor in the garage..
Still tending bar on Thursday’s, enjoying it and is something I really look forward to. My little couple is still as faithful as ever, tell me that look forward to their Thursday lunch also as I make them feel special. Took them some glazed pecans this week, they were happy. Funny how you can make people feel special by just being nice to them. Did get a nice compliment from one of my regulars, seems a website here in town is running a survey on the best bartender in town and I got a vote from him of course. Wrote something like “A ginger who serves drinks with class and a certain amount of sass.” Don‘t know if that is a compliment or not but I will take it.
Glad to say our daughter is coming home for the Forth of July, sure there will be a trip to the skate part, a super soaking and pizza will be in order. Just wish we lived closer to them as they are growing up way too fast.
Our old mattress died after 10 years as they tend to sag in the middle, a new Stearns and Foster, yes this thing is a dream. OK hotshot, your date has on a garter belt, fishnets and a black bra, I better squall before you do, I did. This is going to be one damn good mattress .
Nothing exciting, just life. Sometimes the simple is the best.
