A Very Nice Christmas
Sitting here alone tonight as my husband has gone down to Clearwater Beach to spend time with his parents. They are getting up in age, will not be around forever and I encourage him to do so and make memories while he can. The clinic is closed this week but will make the most of it.
I tended bar last Thursday and was not prepared for what was to happen as we were totally slammed from the time the door opened until I cashed out. There were only 2 of us, plus 2 cooks and by 12 the restaurant was half full with more coming in when 1 of the cooks called the owner. He came in and got behind the bar, I worked the floor, total zoo. About an hour later 2 more people came in and it was pretty decent the rest of the day. My favorite little couple came in, ordered the usual, gave them some fudge, then they handed me a Christmas card and told me not to open it until Christmas morning.
Christmas Eve I got up and decided to dress for Santa, well he came in and noticed something white sticking out from under of my robe, needless to say one thing let to another. When Santa got on his sleigh, his load was a bit lighter, funny I have known this man for 20 years and a simple little white long leg girdle still works it’s magic.
The kids got there about noon, daughter and hubby want to go to the Mall for some shopping so we took the grandkids to an indoor entertainment center, bad mistake as it was totally run over so we had to settle for chicken nuggets. They were happy. That night we had pizza but the kids were wore out and called it a night pretty early
Christmas morning I was awoken but this little voice “Grandma I am hungry” so I got up and his sister was standing outside the door, a pot of coffee, 3 bowls of Captain Crunch and Christmas morning has started. My daughter helped my do a simple breakfast then it was time to start opening. My granddaughter got a skateboard, Chuck Taylors and some wild tights, grandson got a tablet and A Virtual Reality headset for my son in law, clothes for my daughter. I got a Cobra 1 Driver, guess that means we are going to keep playing golf together and ring with a blue sapphire surrounded by diamonds. Now the only ring I have even worn is my wedding band but this thing has earned a place on my finger. The Christmas card I was given contained a very sweet note and a hundred dollar bill.
They left about 2PM, yes I cried, then I turned my attention to hubby. Sporting my new ring and nothing else I told him to get on his knees and put a big smile on a little elf’s face, that he did and again his load was lightened. With all the airline cancellations this weekend was surposed he got out but he did, face timed me last night with his parents to which we had a Christmas toast.
By the way my dreaded fruitcake went over very well as a matter of fact they said it was the best I ever made. That cake and I shared quite a bit of rum together.
Tended bar today, really large crowd had plenty of help however I did have a issue with one person. He came in ordered a beer and 2 glasses of water to which he placed in front of 2 chairs. After about 10 minutes I asked him what he was doing, I knew, but wanted his answer, saving them for my friends. When they coming in, about 2 hours. Listen Buddy I have 31 chairs around this bar and you are going to cost us money if these seats stay empty. With that I took the water and about 5 minutes a couple took the seats, ordered drinks and food. The things people try.
