Has It Been Almost A Year?

It is so hard to believe that I have been tending bar for almost a year, yes due To Covid we closed, then limited service, 50% occupancy but the bar survived. I was offered the job for one day a week thinking it would only be about 6 weeks, no my husband did not want me to take it but I told him he would get over it. And it has been fun, I am so much happier now and just hope it lasts, if not them I probably won’t be unemployed very long As I have had feelers from other bars.

I have my 4 regulars who come in at opening time, plot their day and weekend, love the fact that I can talk sports with them and are just real nice guys. One is single, has told me if I am ever single and need some company, he MIGHT be available, must write that done. Then there is my favorite little couple, they in their 80’s, she always with her string of pearls, him his little spiffy British driving cap, the same every week, 2 martinis, extra olives, split a Reuben, extra Cape Cod chips. They like me because I mother them and make them feel special. Reminded me that Christmas was coming and they sure liked my fudge, she the peanut butter, him the chocolate. Think I have created a monster. 😱😱

As for my husband I have managed to make it fun for him. The owner takes pride in his bourbons and has over 80 different ones so I have playad a game with him when he comes in, bartenders choice. It gives him a choice to try different stuff without expensive prices elsewhere. He has developed a taste for Buffalo Trace which seems to be the house favorite, Sunday I introduced him to Wellers Antique 107, best done with a few cubes.

Not being able to find good dependable help, I sometime will work a Sunday day shift tending bar, with NFL on he wants us to wear a jersey so I have a green and gold Packers to fit in. Hubby thinks I am sexy in my jersey, wonder if Favre knows that a naked woman runs around the house wearing his jersey.

Life is fun, just hope it continues.
