It was not the holiday I expected, but with what is going on in the world, we managed to make the most of it. My son-in-law and daughter are positive, the kids are with their grandmother. So that destroyed Christmas.
The Sunday after Christmas I was asked if I wanted to work as one of the girls had gone home, sure why not might be fun, little did I know. NFL was on, bar was packed from the minute we opened, the men came to drink but did they forever forget how to tip. Had 3 men drink 3 buckets of beer, total 15 brews, over 4 hours, presented them a 42$ bar bill left me a 3$ tip to which went in the tip jar and I had to split with the other bar tender. Cashed out at 4, made 39$ for the day, just glad I don’t do this for a living. Hubby had come in, claimed a table in the corner, bought me a beer, mushrooms and banana peppers, damn boy you know how to make a girl feel good. Might even let you take me home and let you have your way with me.
The clinic was closed between Christmas and New Years, he did not go to Florida to see his parents, so he was all mine, or should I put it the other way. Just fun things together, even went to the driving range then to Cracker Barrel one day. Took down outside Christmas and other small things. Despite it being my birthday, I worked New Years Eve, opened at 10:30, left at 4, yes it was packed the minute we opened, did reserve a table for my 2 favorite people, as expected there they were at 1, dressed for the evening. The usual, martinis with extra olives, sandwich with extra chips. I took them a tin of fudge from Christmas, asked them their plans for later in the evening. Drink champagne, get naked and watch the ball drop. My kind of people. At the end of my shift, the tips were a bit better.
Came home, fixed a meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. Got in bed, fell asleep, never saw the ball drop. Think I was most happy that way.
