Just Feeling Better
A new steakhouse opened downtown late last fall, yes we wanted to try it out but for some reason we were never able to do so. Like everywhere it has been affected by COVID-19, so it partially opened and I made reservations for last Sat night but they are marching, downtown is a mess so I cancelled. On to plan B.
After he finished his round of golf Saturday, we were off to a brewery that had opened the county over. We arrived to find this huge smoker doing que and once seated was told they were doing ribs, brisket and pulled pork until they run out. Right then he began salivating over the thought of a rack of ribs while I could taste a plate of pulled pork, a flight of beer arrived to which we sampled, 3 were very good, the other we dubbed horsepiss. We settled on a beer, the food arrived and I saw this man with a smile of 684 teeth in his mouth, his ribs were fantastic, yes he even shared a bone with me maybe a bit hesitant, but my pulled pork was very good. On the way out picked up a pound of pork for a meal later this week.
Sunday morning we slept in, had pastry and coffee in bed, done the dirty deed and cleaned up. Was about to go out door when our daughter called and we FaceTimed the kids. Miss them so much. We headed off to Walmart where I bought the ingredients for my now dreaded fruit cake, some mums for the front of the house and my husband a huge bag of candy for the trick or treaters we will not have.
Then it hit me. They had started putting the Christmas decorations out, I come to a halt and just looked. Though long from complete, I just walked down each aisle little knowing my husband was looking at me. I bought a couple of ornaments, we checked out and headed home.
On the way home he told me I saw a little girl who never grew up looking forward to Christmas. Think he has me figured out.
