Twenty-Five Books Published! Am I Retiring?
To date, I have published 25 books on Amazon. My latest just went live yesterday and has been found by readers. The only marketing I do, which really isn't much, is to post in a few websites I frequent. Here, Fetlife, DD and on my Tumbler page.
Currently, I'm earning enough to afford better beer and an extra pizza per month. I certainly won't be quitting my day job any time soon, at least not to take up writing full time.
I still might retire but only because with COVID-19 and all the nonsense going on, I don't find work rewarding any more. The money was good but I've got enough to have the option to quit if I manage my expectations.
Who here is retired or thinking about it? What's your take?

Because I am high risk, COVID-19 forced me to retire in July. My wife works from home. I will probably look into working from home myself down the road.

Not yet but thinking about it. I make more money than I ever thought I would so I hate to give up the job. Like you I don’t find it as rewarding as in the past. I also will not have any access to a health care plan so have to factor in going out on the market until I am 65, I feel like if I had a partial income from something like you do that it may push me over the edge.

I wood encourage anyone who can afford it to retire. MySO both retired primarily bc of health. We both have been dx with rheumatoid arthritis and both of us eere social workers in the health sector, me ICU her community primarily with those in the ling term care.
Years ago we bought avery small Acreage which has been a god send during The shut down.
We thank our lucky stars for not being in the middle of all the COVID-19 crap and having room to stretch our legs and minds

The wife retired at the end of March. She’d been thinking about quitting for a while and looking for work elsewhere. She had intended to work another five years, but this Lockdown convinced her to just stop. I’ve been retired for 8 years. She has plenty to do on her pet projects so is happy to not be working. We thought we would travel but that ain’t happening.
