I am not posting this out of medfet interest but because I genuinely wanted to update those who helped me by guiding me about my query on rectovaginal exam.
Yes finally I had my rectovaginal exam. It was difficult for me I would say. Dr had to tell me to relax again and again. I could also feel I was very tight. I always go for my "sick" appointments with mom but for this one I asked mom to wait outside. I was too embarrassed and even scared. Dr felt that when I asked her whether her nails were trimmed, despite being gloved. I had a fear that her nails would hurt during exam. She laughed. But assured me it will be okay and also tried to distract me like for a kid.
The Dr while examining said my uterus was palpable. She asked to get MRI to rule out any complications.
I had anyways not eaten due to tension so we could get MRI done
It shows 2 small size fibroids. "Peas like" is what the technician said after the test. When my gyn saw the report, she said this was the reason for my mood swings.I had severe mood swings during period days once recently and once earlier. Also fibroids were reason for my heavy bleeding in current cycle.
She said the fibroids were not seen in recent transvaginal because fibroids are inside the uterus wall.
She has given medication. But also said I don't have to take stress at all. This may disturb the cycle by early start of periods. May also increase pain and bleeding.
I even asked why didn't it happen all these years. She said it's normal to be without symptoms and then they suddenly appear. Your periods itself triggered your symptoms.
She said it's normal to happen.
She was like I may sound strange but period pain from fibroids is all in the mind. If you remain mentally relaxed, with medicine your period would be like a normal one. Fibroids are common thing.
I know fibroids are common but all these years I used to think I get regular checkups so I am at the top of my health. So finding fibroids is disheartening.
But thanks again to all those who answered my query about the exam.
