Those of you who have read the part about shopping mall experience may know that we are a group of 3 friends. The one who fainted that day is the weakest among us in terms of health. That day she fainted and yesterday she had bad stomach pain. She said she gets painful periods at times but at this time she wasn't on periods and they weren't coming soon. She was in the mid of her cycle which is generally comfortable for her she said. But yesterday she wasn't sounding nice on phone and was also off work because of this. When I went to hear house just to check on her she was curled up on the sofa watching TV with hot water bottle on her stomach. Enough to know that she was in bad pain.
But she has a very strange habit. She thinks she is a doctor herself. I told her let's speak to the doctor first whether her regular GP or even mine if she wants. But she was adamant on getting a sonography done "because her doctor asks for it always she goes for period pains" I honestly felt strange but we went to the radiology clinic near her place.
We registered. She was asked to drink water (we had a bottle) She was called in after 30 minutes. I asked her if she wants me in. The lady technician was ok but my friend joked "only if you don't cry" (that episode has become a joke 😃 ) I really wanted to see the scan out of my medfet interests. I stood in the corner. She was made to lie down on the table with hands below her head. Her black top raised enough to expose her full abdomen and her blue jeans unbuttoned unzipped and loosened and so was her underwear. I was thinking of my ultrasound that happens at the annual physical. I was imagining myself on the table. Though luckily at my ultrasound all this loosening lower and raising of top is done by me only. Someone else doing it is a little embarrassing. But my friend was ok so I don't want to comment further. The technician asked her about the pain to begin with. After that she put the gel on her tummy and the transducer. Her tummy looked so nice to me. I enjoyed seeing the scan. Having said that. One remark made by the lady was not acceptable (though honestly I was relieved to hear it)
She laughed and said. It's just gas as she was scanning her abdomen. I could see my friend felt really embarrassed. I wanted to tell the lady to not make fun and do her job. If I had been the patient I would have said that.
It's good that there was nothing serious. My friend agreed that she had heavy dinner previous night and just slept after that. But I know how bad her pain was so she being a patient didn't deserve to be laughed at. What if it was just gas. I really didn't like it.
I wanted to complain but she said it wasn't a biggie and she has to come here often so why make a complain for such a small thing. I agreed only because of this point. For me it was a big thing.
What do you all think after reading this?
Was attitude of the lady technician correct?
