Naughty Naughty Jan
Well another couple of months have passed and I have been lax in not updating my blog. Naughty Naughty Jan.
The post federal election circus went as expected with the high drama of who was going to go with who headline news for weeks.
And the drama continued for over 3 weeks before an unstable compromise was reached with the 3 independents holding the power as expected. They milked both of the major parties for as much as they could get promised for their electorates and then went with the best offers. Ho Hum.
I had to go to far north Queensland with a video crew to shoot segments for one of the networks consisting of mainly interviews with people in one of the more crazy independents electorates. He gets around wearing a wide brimmed hat and has some incredible ideas of his own importance. He isn't the worst though. One of the others makes Homer Simpson look like a genius.
I was marooned out of internet contact in outback Queeksland until the decision was made and I could get back to Sydney.
Curiously enough one of the matters of great importance to the voters and the politicians was the promises of better internet to people living in the "Outback" Great promises were flying that never will be fullfilled and those poor souls who voted thinking they are all going to have 100 MB/s on fibre don't realise the plan is for 10Mb/s on satellite so they were misled by both of the major parties and the independents are too stupid to realise they have been had. Oh well slow will be better than not having anything at all I suppose.
The government intends spending 43 Billion dollars on this great new network and the opposition plan was to spend only 5 billion or so on a network that would do the same. It's just the usual Labour way of wanting to nationalise things and keep private enterprise out of things.
The only communications we had were a satphone and driving the video to an airport 150 or so Km away every couple of days.
Hubby was away at the same time over in Canada then Germany and then Amsterdam so the satphone got a hiding., ($1700 bill)
I was going spare whilst out of contact with the world and deprived of my chat and was extremely happy to get back.
It did create some other problems as well. Dr Viking was going to be in Sydney for a few days and we were going to meet but on the day I was 1500KM away up north and we couldn't communicate on the net.
Oh well the best laid plans of mice and men......
When hubby got back much fun in the playroom of course and trying out the new toys he bought in that den of vice Amsterdam!
Lots of fun. Its been quite quiet at work really just bursts of activity every now and again.
It's been cool to cold and it's been good indoor enema weather and great for playing.
Can't complain about that.
Oh well life goes on.
till next time
