Heck it's been an eternity since i did anything about my blogs.
Just been too busy with other things and forgot about it.
Things generally have just been going on normally with nothing exceptional. just the same old grind at work and hubby has been away a couple of times and home quite a bit so its been good in that area.
Australia has been in election mode for a while now since the old Prime Minister was backstabbed by his deputy and thrown out. The new female Prime minister promised a speedy election to authenticate that she had then been elected instead of taking over the job unelected by the people. The old government had a 17 seat majority so she felt pretty confident that it was just a formality. Not to be.
The election was held last weekend and its neck and neck with neither party just not able to get a majority to form a government in it's own right.
The old government spent like drunken sailors and reduced the countries' financial situation from a surplus of 30 Billion dollars to a deficit of over 100 billion dollars and a national debt peaking at 300 billion with continuing borrowings of over 100 million dollars a day.
And they are bleating they are good financial managers. its no wonder they lost so many seats.
Both major parties are trying to woo the 3 independants to align with them to be able to form a minority government.
We have been busy at work doing interviews and so on for the networks prior to the election and sending crews all over the place. Keeps me busy so I can't complain.
But now the election result hinges on who these 3 guys go with. One is from Far North Queesnsland and is really a character with some quite outlandish ideas. One of the networks now wants us to send a crew to his electorate and interview the locals and send reports back until the election result is finalised. Unfortunately it has to be me who will have to go with the crew so I'll be away for who knows how long about 2000 miles from home.
Not that I don't like the tropics as much as anyone else in winter but there are more interesting tropics than where I will be. Anyway i will know if it's on or off tomorrow.
I was hoping to be able to meet Viking on his trip in Sydney early next week but that looks like it may not be possible either Bummer!
Anyway hubby is going away this weekend too to Canada then Germany and Holland for 3 weeks so we can both be lonely.
All I can do now is make the most of being with him for the next couple of days woo hoo
