Here We Go Again!
Yesterday was a mix of being manic and also of being totally over the top anxious.
South Carolina ordered a mandatory evacuation of all homes east of US 17 beginning no later than noon Monday. Hubby and I secured our home for the second time in less than a year and headed inland to stay with our former neighbors who were kind enough to take us in last year for Hurricane Florence. They obviously did not expect a return engagement so soon (and neither did we) but we were happy to get their call on Sunday evening when the evacuation was announced.
So...here we sit...and wait. Since this storm is forecast to move quickly, I'm hopeful we'll be home by the weekend. Meanwhile, my heart goes out to those in the Bahamas who had to endure hour upon hour of pounding by this massive storm. By contrast, our relocation pales in comparison with the hardship these people will face in the days and weeks and months ahead.

Hi Deb, I’m Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as this storm goes by. I hope you and your property goes unscathed. Having dealt with 10 years of hurricane seasons in South Mississippi I can totally relate to what you are going thru. It’s wonderful that you have good friends inland to stay with. Take care!

As I pointed out to my wife, there is a reason why I fill the gas tank once I arrive or just before arrival at Hilton Head, Pawley's Island or Myrtle Beach. It is to avoid the issue of trying to find fuel once I get there and then we have to evacuate. I noted that the counterflow lane reversal was put in place in Hilton Head and Charleston.
Hope all goes well for you. And clearly it is a disaster in the Bahamas.
