Time to me is very strange. I can not see or feel it, but I can measure it. Always moving in only one direction, dragging (pushing ?) things out of the past and into the future, leaving no way back. Some things come with us and some are left behind. Eventually, we too will be left behind, never to catch up.
Many common and useful items have disappeared from our lives. Some that come to mind are listed here. I am sure that there are many others that my mind has dropped along the way.
Cigarette vending machines
Kitchen wall phones
Black and white TV
White wall tires or the little wire “curb feelers” that warned you before you scuffed them.
Penny post cards
“Nickel “ candy bars and “penny candy”
Cars without air conditioning.
Airports with free parking
Grocery items with price marked on them
Car seat covers
Frozen orange juice
Good Humor trucks
Free road maps at gas stations
And many others that time has left behind, never to catch up.
Time travel is not only real, but compulsory.
