Over the next several weeks I will be spending time mostly at the South Carolina coast and I have been picking out my toys I'm going to take with me. Choices of which bags, nozzles, and colon tubes, of course. I'm looking forward to the break from the pace of my current job.
My training for my next two marathons officially starts next week. I have been running some preliminary "tests" to get back into full marathon conditioning and to put myself in the proper mindset to deal with training in the summer heat and humidity. I know the payoff of that stressful training when it comes to running 42.195 km (26 miles, 385 yards) in the relative coolness of a fall marathon. The good news is that the first few weeks of training will be done over mostly flat terrain. The goal is Boston Qualification. My target date for qualification is March 2020 but if I feel ready for it, I may go for it in October 2019.
Although I've run a couple of races so far this year, and even came in first in my age group in one of them, the first race of this training cycle is on July 4th. The first true tests of my readiness will come in October with a 10K and half-marathon.
I may put up an album (Going Coastal) with some of my favorite fillings while I am hanging out during the next few weeks. And, of course, I'm taking lots of shoes in addition to enema bags.
