Too Much Time On My Hands!
Since hubby and I are awaiting our return home following evacuation for Hurricane Florence, I’m sitting in our former neighbor’s home (God bless these dear people) nearly 150 miles away from our coastal home. It’s amazing what having a ton of downtime will do when indulging in countless Google searches for the most esoteric things.
Recently, I added a blog entry when hubby surprised me with a lovely new pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. In that particular entry, I remembered how I loved shoes as a child, as a teen and young adult. I always had to have the latest style and stay “on trend” as the contemporary term goes. The hottest shoe brand of the day was Pappagallo. I thought I’d died and gone to heaven when they opened a shop downtown dedicated solely to the brand that offered colorful flats, cute heels and accessories. They ended up with a lot of my money!
Last night while we all watched Monday Night Football (we needed an escape from flood coverage and no one was interested in the Emmys) I toyed around with my laptop and of all things, I searched for Pappagallo. And lo and behold…there were even images of some of the very shoes I owned!
Once I cast my eyes on these vintage shoes, the flood of memories began. The “had to have” styles; the girlfriends who used to accompany me on shopping trips to the Pappagallo boutique and of the special dates that demanded a new pair of shoes. I thought of my years in high school when dressing up for school was what you did! And I fondly remembered my college roommate, who has since passed away, and her wicked sense of humor when it came to my closet full of shoes.
Chalk it up to having too much time on my hands…or even a latent desire to revisit some of the most fun times of my life. Times that today seem quaint and innocent…but seemed so different at the time.
I’ve attached a pic of a pair of Pappagallo flats just like I pair I once called my own!
What frivolity! What fun!

Oh those are beautiful! I see why you like them.
You may enjoy some of the shoes shown in my shoe album.
I hope everything is going to be okay with your home. Take care!
