In our couple, we have a little Christmas custom.
In France, it is said that at Christmas a mysterious "father Christmas" ("père Noël") brings presents to good children... but another fantasy character is "flogging father" ("père fouettard") who spanks unruly children.
And probably older than that, it was apparently the case that sometimes unruly children were offered at Christmas a "martinet", a kind of flogger traditionally used to chastise children.
Between Christmas and New Years Day, our children often spend vacation time with their grandparents. We take advantage of it by playing "mère fouettard" ("flogging mother") and "père fouettard" ("flogging father") between spouses.
So we'll take turn, not necessarily on the same day. One spouse will come lay across the lap of the other spouse and discuss the good and bad points of the year past, to the tune of a few spanks on the bottom to get at the bottom of the answers.
Then the punishment will come. If it's me, I'll have to take down my trousers; if it's my wife, she'll be wearing a pleated skirt; or she'll be wearing pajamas, which will be pulled down to her ankles. In any case, the bad spouse will be kneeling, bottom up, face down. Panties or briefs will come down to the knees; skirt, shirt etc. will be pulled up out of the way.
Then, the bad spouse will get spanked with the martinet on the buttocks, also on hips (if apparent) and thighs until the buttocks are red and very stingy.
