Getting close... maybe
For those of this group who are following my hubby's medical misadventures, here's an update. We saw two colo-rectal specialists in Phoenix, and frankly neither of us much liked either of them. But the medical message is the same from all: if the colitis is asymptomatic they will do the reconnect surgery. If it's not, then the surgery cannot be done, and would be literally malpractice.
So whether he has to go on dealing with this colostomy and all its associated life-changing miseries, or gets a simple surgery and comes home to his life that will of course involve having me give him erotic enemas when he's healed... frightfully is almost a coin-toss.
The latest is that he now has a colonoscopy scheduled for December first. If that shows his colon is free of the colitis... the big if... they will schedule the reconnect surgery! This long miserable experience could be over for him before Christmas!
It's so close, and yet so frustratingly far.... And the worst part about it for me is I can't do a single thing more to help at this point except pray. Normalcy, Lord. Please let his colon have simple normalcy on that Monday morning so the little camera sees a pink healthy colon lining.
Hugs,
Diane

I had diverticuli burst in my colon and had to have an illeostomy bag for four moths while the area healed...........it was the worst four months of my life, leaks, frequent emptying, you name it.

I'm send out thoughts of peace and support. Hang in there and try to have at least one comforting thought a day. You have a lot of family feeling folks right here and we are all with you at least in spirit.

Many prayers for Dan and you. Lots of folks pulling for you both. God never gives us more than we can handle. (Although at times He seems to have more faith than we have in ourselves).. Blessings on you both.
